Dress code or uniform?

I have a dress code that I think should be universal:

  1. You should wear appropriate clothing to protect you from the elements.
  2. You should wear sufficient clothing to protect you from getting arrested.

Actually, #2 is just a special case of #1, but some people need to think about it a some to realize that so I usually make it a different line item.

I am reminded of this because in the collection of memes Rolf sent me was this one:

Interesting comparison.

It certainly isn’t a “dress code”. But it could be some sort of attraction to that sort of uniform by people of the same personality type. I wonder if clothing preferences by different personality types have been researched.

I’ve heard that many women are sexually attracted to men in uniforms. I wonder if other strong correlations can be found as well and if that information could be useful in some way.

With all the anti-gun owner stuff going on when the NRA called last month I immediately upgraded my membership:

When some Republican fundraiser called me yesterday I told him, “I’m very nearly a one issue voter. I care about gun ownership rights. You guys just passed a bunch of gun control stuff. We are done! I’m giving my money to the NRA. If you want it you need to earn it from them.” He tried to keep talking but I hung up on him.

The set of potential mates which I might have an interest in is fairly small and, assuming they are all consensual, is no one’s business but mine and theirs. No politician has any moral high ground in deciding who I want to spend my life with.

And whether I want to carry a two shot derringer, a 9mm with a 21 round magazine (STI DVC Limited with 140mm magazines), or a five shot revolver is my choice. I know my situation and capability better than any politician. No politician has the moral authority to say I can or cannot carry a firearm to defend myself or other innocent people.

No politician has the moral authority to say I can or cannot marry or carry. If they insist they do then whatever “crime” occurs is on them. They created the crime. I did not commit a crime.

This is why we have a constitution which enumerated the limited powers of the government. It was supposed to protect against this sort of crap. It hasn’t. There is no branch of government specifically tasked with arresting and prosecuting those who violate their oath of office. No. It would be self-defeating to them if school shootings stopped. School shootings are the absolute best tool they have in their fight against gun owners! The more the better! More money for their cause, more support for restrictive gun laws, because, “What we have isn’t working we need more restrictions on guns!”

Pro For Sho ear protection

I recently received an email from Michelle of Pro For Sho asking if I would be interested in reviewing their ear protection.

I expressed my interest because of the mention of rifle shooting and their website was up front about their product being useful for shooting.

I frequently put in plugs rather than try to work around the bulky external muffs required to get good protection. And besides, they are claiming 34db NRR when my go-to muffs for pistol shooting when I am alone (Pro Ears) are at best 30db (title says 30db, but the text of the description says 26db) NRR.

I received them today and tried them on. As I expected, they cannot compare to Pro Ears in the softness of the material around the ears (they are amazing!). But they are better than a lot of muffs I have used and I expect they will be comfortable with the one or two hour sessions I have when using passive muffs.

I put on some loud music with plenty of high frequency content and compare the two sets of muffs. I couldn’t determine which were better.

But, my real test was, “Will they allow me to shoot a rifle?”

Here is a picture of my Pro Ears muffs next to the Pro For Sho muffs:

This is a huge difference in clearance between your head and the rifle stock. I got out my rifle in Bellevue (I have another rifle in Idaho I should try it with as well) with the least clearance. As expected the Pro Ears were being pushed up by the stock. The Pro For Sho muffs just barely touched. It’s a win!

Additional information from Michelle:

I just want to mention, since we keep getting a lot of similar feedback from our customers, I think it’s necessary to point out that due to the High NRR Ratio, if you find the earmuffs a bit snug when you first start using them, it’s totally normal. It will loosen up over time. Please FIRST double check to make sure you fully adjust the length of the earmuffs by sliding the cup up and down to find a better fit.

Just in case the earmuffs are still tight, we always suggest to stretch them to make it more comfortable. If the earmuffs are still tight after you fully adjust it, take the earmuffs out and clamp it over the box and let it sit overnight. It worked great with most of our customers who tried it.

When the tyrant starts loading you into the cattle cars you should just come up with a catchy chant and march away from the trains. That should work just fine.

Oh, maybe the anti-gun people, nearly all of them with a communist streak, do understand the truth of Mao and that is the reason they want to take our guns. Their plans are that it is we who are loaded into the cattle cars. Gee, I never thought of that before!
