I almost support the Brady Campaign

…the families sought to hold the FBI accountable for its failed background check on Dylann Roof, which allowed Roof to legally buy the handgun used in the Emanuel shooting.

In Tuesday’s filing, the Brady Campaign says U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel incorrectly interpreted federal gun law when he dismissed the Emanuel families’ lawsuit in June 2018.

I’m firmly opposed to mandatory background checks so I am not in agreement with the basic premise of their position but I am fully in support of the Brady Campaign suing the FBI. This diverts both Brady and FBI resources from attacking gun owners.

If Brady wins it means the FBI will increase expenditures on NICS to decrease the likelihood of being successfully sued in the future. Increasing the costs of NICS checks means the value of these checks will be more likely to be examined. Does our society “get it’s money’s worth” from this expenditure or would those resources be better spent elsewhere. For example, should that money be spent on keeping violent criminals in prison rather than in a futile attempt to prevent them from acquiring guns in a free society? Or, should that money be spent in police efforts to put into finding and convicting criminals quickly before they can commit multiple crimes?

background check before selling it to him. The rifle is sighted in and his

having completed a training course….without specifying the contents of that
course, who will offer it and requiring that it be reasonably prices an
accessible to all.

 

 

Law enforcement officers are also governed by this
completely undefined process.

legislature adds every person who has ever used any amount of anti-depression
medication to the list of persons unable to legally own any firearms. Bob’s
purchase of a rifle under I-1639 gave the state the means to circumvent HIPAA’s
privacy protections and access his medical records at any point in the future.
As a result of his brief anti-depressant use, all of Bob’s firearms are
confiscated.

 

 

Another consequence of this is that a large number
of people battling depression avoid seeking help to deal with that depression
and even suicidal thoughts. Some end up taking their own
lives.

 

 
Anne Holms is a former single mom whose kids have
grown and moved away. She keeps a pistol for self protection and is
conscientious about keeping it locked when she is not using it. Unfortunately,
the locked container is stolen from her home during a break-in while she is

–          Democrats have
decided that it is now open season on gun owners and begin constant efforts to
enact ever stricter gun laws, like California does. Washington state gun
owners, used to a fairly stable set of laws, are left uncertain from one year
to the next which of their guns will remain legal

 

–          Some legislation is
passed without real feedback over a weekend, as was attempted in 2018.

 

–          At the same time,
the gun owners who up to now have had a huge stake in obeying all laws conclude
that there is no point in doing so.

 

Of course, the creators of this initiative view nearly all of this as features and not bugs. An increase in crime and chaos paves the way for more government infringement of our rights.

Vote NO on I1639 and ask your friends, relatives, and neighbors to vote no. Get materials to help get the word out.

Donate your time and money to fund efforts (as I have also done) to defeat I-1639.

You want to advocate that tens of millions of Americans be made in to felons to be hunted by police, but you object to any of those people you would make into felons merely typing a reply to your advocacy of their demise?

That doesn’t sound smart, and it doesn’t sound well-educated.

How did the United States take land from the Native Americans? Part of it was by taking their guns first.

How did the Germans push the Jews in to the ghettos? Partly by taking their guns first.

How did the Turks exterminate so many Armenians? They took the Armenians’ guns first.

How did Mao kill tens of millions? Pol Pot? Stalin?

The history of gun confiscation is the history of marginalized groups being exterminated by the majority.

Just because you yourself have no such desire has no effect on what the people you give this power to will do.

To see just what a bad idea taking all the guns away is, let’s change out the groups you want to make defenseless, and see how it sounds:

No African Americans should be allowed to own guns.

No women should be allowed to own guns.

No single moms should be allowed to own guns.

No Jews should be allowed to own guns.

No LGBTQ+ people should be allowed to own guns.

Pretty ugly, right?

I hope you aren’t advocating that a gay person isn’t allowed to defend themselves from gay bashing.

I always love these circular arguments of “what about ..” This is exactly why I support a ban. Of course we can’t solve this when there is no logic or intellectual component to the debate. So there is only one possible solution: take all the guns.

‘Late Show’ Writer Ariel Dumas Under Fire for Obvious ‘Joke’ About Brett Kavanaugh
[This is from someone of the same political party which just a month ago went ballistic when a political opponent used the phrase “monkey up”.

To think that it was “a good joke” that someone with a previously excellent personal reputation was publicly and repeatedly accused heinous crimes, which could not be supported, is evil.

Of course he also thinks Kathy Griffin holding up a realistic severed head of President Trump was good joke.

Hence it should come at no surprise he says this about people who exercise their right to keep and bear arms:

Almost anyone of any stature in media who dabbles in political humor has found themselves in this scenario by now. I’ve had a number of phony campaigns attempted against me at outlets I’ve written for over the years after comments I’ve made about gamers and gun fetishists were amplified in bad faith.

In addition to being evil, as Mike Cernovich tweeted, he is also lacking in self awareness.—Joe[
