A Thin Veneer Over the Emotional Kaleidoscope

Quote of the Day

As a liberal it’s galling that those on my side remain obsessed with disarming during the most dangerous powder keg of a political environment we’ve seen perhaps since the civil war. Masked government goons are kidnapping people, killing citizens in broad day with no consequences and running concentration camps. The military is on our streets but these idiots want us even more vulnerable and defenseless.

Comment to The Guns Affected by the New Texas Firearm Ruling – Newsweek

I will let pass the collection of assertions I disagree with.

I agree there are a great number of people on his side who irrationally claim we have a Fascist government with Nazi’s everywhere and simultaneously demand private citizens owning guns should be at least register and severely limited in their selection of arms if not completely disarmed by that same government.

There is no way I can make sense of this other than they are doing the prep work for when they regain power and want to implement their own version of the Final Solution. That is also consistent with the dehumanization of the political right. While one might be able to find kernels of half-truths in their claims, it totally blown out of proportion and almost unrecognizable in reality.

But, as I frequently say, it is irrational to expect people to be rational. Rationality is just a thin veneer over the emotional kaleidoscope of the human brain.

Prepare appropriately.

  1. “There is no way I can make sense of this other than they are doing the prep work for when they regain power and want to implement their own version of the Final Solution.”

Let me help: They still agitate for gun control because they don’t believe their own BS about “fascist government with Nazis everywhere”.

They know full well that such irrational claims are nothing more than a political ploy, not a true, genuine concern about the state of the government.

They make the former hysterical claims in an attempt to garner support for them regaining power while continuing their policies of disarming the public under the assumption that they will one day be successful.

It’s all a part of the same game plan.

You want to see “masked goons kidnapping people” and “concentration camps”, that will be our reality if these power hungry wanna-be dictators ever succeed in their endeavors.

That’s one of the trademarks of the left: accusing the right of actually doing what they *really*, *really* want to do.

  2. This guy… he has all the pieces, but he refuses to put them together. It’s a child-level puzzle – he COULD, he just refuses.

The things those people CLAIM to believe, *they do not believe*.

Now, which things? That’s open to discussion, guessing, interpretation, etc, but the clear fact is that they don’t believe them all.

Or even “both”, as it’s really primarily two beliefs:
-the current government is a bunch of fascists who want to rule us all with an iron fist, etc, etc (and that’s BAD)
-we should disarm all the civilians… so that fascist government is unopposed??

They do not believe both of those things. You (the guy you are quoting) are being a “useful idiot”.
