Quote of the day–Dave Barry

The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They’re the kind of people who’d stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn’t bother to stop because they’d want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club.

Quote of the day–Ramsey Clarke

We’ve made more enemies during the presidency of George Bush than in the rest of our history combined.

Ramsey Clark
Former US Attorney General
[And one could make a lot of enemies serving “colored people” in your restaurant in the deep south 50 years ago too. It’s the same emotional ‘argument’ about “squandering our good will”. We “squandered our good will” with Germany, Italy, and Japan about 65 years ago too. Doing the right thing is more important than trying to make everyone happy. Facts don’t support his agenda so he makes an emotional appeal.–Joe]

Quote of the day–Anjem Choudary

Who says you own Britain, anyway? Britain belongs to Allah. The whole world belongs to Allah. … If I go to the jungle, I’m not going to live like the animals, I’m going to propagate a superior way of life. Islam is a superior way of life.

Quote of the day–Michael Rubin

Iran is fighting a proxy war, but smugly feels itself immune to consequence. Not only is this unfair to the Lebanese, but it is dangerous for Washington. The more overconfident Iran becomes in its ability to get away with murder, the more likely Americans will be targeted down the line.

Quote of the day–Chris Eades

The Government is constructing responses without any credible evidence that they will be successful. Knife amnesties will have a negligible impact since knives will be available as long as there is unsliced bread.

Quote of the day–J.J. Luna

This book is dedicated to an anonymous member of Spain’s Secret Police. On January 27, 1960, during a brief encounter on a quiet back street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I asked him for advice on how best to avoid any problems in the land of Generalissimo Francisco Franco. The advice he gave me has served me well for more than forty years. He said there was only one way to avoid troubles with the authorities:

“Make yourself invisible.”

And so I did.

Quote of the day–Alan Korwin

Access taxes and proficiency tests for exercising your rights are very much alive for black Americans, and all Americans, if you wish to exercise your right to keep and bear arms.

Quote of the day–Chief Justice Morrison Waite

The right there specified is that of ‘bearing arms for a lawful purpose.’ This is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. The second amendment declares that it shall not be infringed; but this, as has been seen, means no more than that it shall not be infringed by Congress.

Quote of the day–Albert Einstein

The real problem is in the hearts and minds of men… it is easier to denature plutonium that to denature the evil spirit in man… Man’s skills have outstripped his morals…

Quote of the day–Lukas Grunwald

The whole passport design is totally brain damaged. From my point of view all of these RFID passports are a huge waste of money. They’re not increasing security at all.

Quote of the day–Jeff Cooper

Remember when Kennesaw, Georgia, made it mandatory for all households to be armed, and the media viewed this with dismay?  Well note further that in Kennesaw, Georgia, where there used to be very little armed violence, there now seems to be none.

What was it that Heinlein said about an armed society?

Jeff Cooper
From Jeff Cooper’s Commentaries
Vol. 3, No. 1
13 January 1995
[Barb, James, and I spent the evening last night with some Jewish friends that are loosely associated with the Jewish center that was shot up on Friday. More Jews need to be armed in this country when (not if) they are attacked again the response needs to be immediate and decisive. This will reduce future attacks. Taking a 13 year old girl hostage and shooting a pregnant women is a cowardly thing to do. It wouldn’t take much display of force to convince cowards such as these to reconsider their actions. I also give my endorsement of some Muslims condemning the attack and expressing sympathy for the victims.–Joe]

Quote of the day–R. A. Lafferty

When you have shot and killed a man you have in some measure clarified your attitude toward him.  You have given a definite answer to a definite problem.  For better or worse you have acted decisively.

In a way, the next move is up to him.

Quote of the day–Ayman al-Zawahri

Quote of the day–Robert A. Heinlein

Of course, the Marxian definition of value is ridiculous. All the work one cares to add will not turn a mud pie into an apple tart; it remains a mud pie, value zero. By corollary, unskillful work can easily subtract value; an untalented cook can turn wholesome dough and fresh green apples, valuable already, into an inedible mess, value zero. Conversely, a great chef can fashion of those same materials a confection of greater value than a commonplace apple tart, with no more effort than an ordinary cook uses to prepare an ordinary sweet.

These kitchen illustrations demolish the Marxian theory of value–the fallacy from which the entire magnificent fraud of communism derives–and illustrate the truth of the common-sense definition as measured in terms of use.

[Do not think for an instant that Marxism, the most thoroughly tested and failed political philosophy in human history, is dead. It should be but millions of people still yearn for it. It’s a mind numbing addictive drug that gives an initial euphoria and the illusion of well-being but ultimately it destroys initiative, your economic health, and then your life.–Joe]
