Don’t let Hillary leave you defenseless

From the NRA:

The gloves come off

By now anyone paying any attention to politics will have at least heard of the disgusting attitude Donald Trump has, or at least had, toward women. The consequences of this might well be that Trump loses, and rightly so, the vote of a large majority of women and many men.

Scott Adams predicts a different outcome:

I assume that publication of this recording was okayed by the Clinton campaign. And if not, the public will assume so anyway. That opens the door for Trump to attack in a proportionate way. No more mister-nice-guy. Gloves are off. Nothing is out of bounds. It is fair to assume that Bill and Hillary are about to experience the worst weeks of their lives.

My prediction of a 98% chance of Trump winning stays the same. Clinton just took the fight to Trump’s home field. None of this was a case of clever strategy or persuasion on Trump’s part. But if the new battleground is spousal fidelity, you have to like Trump’s chances.

The Washington Post gives us hints as to what Trump might bring up:

Heading into the second presidential debate, Donald Trump and his allies have signaled that he will bring up a variety of claims concerning the sexual behavior of former president Bill Clinton. Clinton has acknowledged being unfaithful during his marriage to Hillary Clinton but has denied charges of sexual assault.

Trump may also raise a rape case that Hillary Clinton handled as a young lawyer in Arkansas, as well as claim that she attacked Bill Clinton’s accusers.

The suspected rapist she defended is the most damning for Hillary Clinton:

This refers to a 41-year-old case that resurfaced when the Washington Free Beacon in 2014 discovered unpublished audio recordings from the mid-1980s of Hillary Clinton being interviewed by Arkansas reporter Roy Reed for an article that was never published. The case was also covered extensively in a 2008 article by Glenn Thrush in Newsday.

This morning I received an email with a link to this video:

I’ve been saying I need popcorn for this election. Now I think I need to make a run to Costco to buy bleach.

Quote of the day—Lyle

No one is opposed to charity, but the problems come in as soon as we’re talking about coercive redistribution disguised, or excused, as “charity”. One is a beautiful thing, while the other is horrible, destructive and deadly, yet who can put their finger on the difference?

The national conversation treats the those two opposites as though they are equal, yet anyone would understand the difference between the Girl Scouts showing up at your door asking for a donation in exchange for cookies, and an armed thug holding you up at gunpoint. When government implements a redistribution ruse, they’re acting as that armed thug with a gun, and the fallout is much the same except worse– That government thug never gets prosecuted, and so the crimes increase in scale and frequency until the criminals end up running everything. Eventually the whole society is degraded and eventually destroyed.

Because Clinton has been sued so many times for non-compliance with subpoenas, for destroying evidence, for purging servers, for crushing cell phones with hammers, and generally for hiding information, the State Department – with its thousands of government employees – is unable to provide the public with what may be the most important glimpse into Hillary’s allegedly criminal activities: the not so arbitrary deletion of up to 15,000 emails.

A thought occurred to me. They do, sometimes. Occasionally they are even interesting.

You may have heard we have a national election coming up. The pundits and pollsters are saying it’s too close to call, or that it’s Hilliary’s to lose. But one thing we know is that there are some states where elections are typically close enough that before the votes are cast it could swing either way with new news. Hence they are called “swing states”. Current polling (as of the time of this posting, anyway) says that there are 188 (solid/likely/leans) Electoral College votes for for Clinton, 185 EC votes in the “too close to call” column, and 165 (solid/likely/leans) EC votes for Trump. In the “leans Clinton” column are Illinois and Oregon, and in the tossup are FL, OH, IA, GA, PA. Continue reading

Quote of the day—Bennie G. Thompson

Taking action to prevent terrorists from having access to assault weapons would be a good start.  However, it seems that in the waning days of this Congress, there is more appetite for advancing un-American and counter-productive proposals such as closing the borders to Muslims or ethnically profiling whole communities.

To reiterate what Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson has testified to Congress, that with the current threat picture, homeland security cannot be achieved without sensible gun control laws.

Homeland security means keeping assault weapons off our streets
[Sometimes I’m just amazed that people can say and believe the things they do. Immigration from other countries is not a constitutionally protected right. There isn’t anything more American than our country’s founding document. The right to keep and bear arms is a specific enumerated right protected by that document. Is this guy’s mind that well partitioned that he can’t connected what he wrote in consecutive sentences?

The only way this makes sense to me is that people say things with the knowledge, at some level, people will hear what they want to hear. The anti-gun politician will say they “respect the Second Amendment and they don’t want to ban guns”. The next sentence will be that they “support the banning of assault weapons”. It could be that those sort of contradictory messages work on both the receiver and the sender. They say and hear what they want depending upon individual biases of the person at that particular moment. And those biases change from second to second. For example, one second they are of the opinion that the Bill of Rights is important and should be respected. The next second they believe nothing should stand in the way of preventing terrorists from murdering innocent people. They somehow cannot make the connection that these two beliefs are incompatible.

It could be this a built-in psychological mechanism common to almost all people.

I view it as some sort of mental illness.—Joe]

The debate

This may have been the first televised presidential debate I have watched in it’s entirety since the first one. Yeah, Nixon v. Kennedy. I was young then, it was on a black and white T.V. and dinosaurs sometimes ate our fruit trees back in those days.

I think I was as bored with the debate tonight as I was with that first debate when I was a little kid.

Hillary talked about wanting to tax, spend, and implement gun control. Trump wanted to reduce taxes and regulations, wanted somewhat less gun control than Hillary, and made faces.

Jaime and I watched it together and afterward she said she was disappointed. She had hoped Hillary would start coughing, have a seizure, and flop around on the stage.

Yeah, that would have made it less boring. Maybe next time.

Quote of the day—AR15.com News

A chief aim of the Constitution as drafted by the Constitutional Convention was to create a government with enough power to act on a national level, but without so much power that fundamental rights would be at risk. It is quite obvious that limit has been overstepped, and electing Hillary would essentially re-create the same greedy, selfish, tyrannical government that the King of England and Parliament had back in the 18th century. Then she could begin dismantling the Constitution piece by piece.

I hope the FBI does their job, and that the DOJ does theirs. I hope that the evidence that was purposely deleted from the private email server makes its way to the American people, and that the establishment and its corrupt politics are eliminated. I still have hope that all is not lost in our federal government, but I have no confidence.

AR15.com News
August 15, 2016
[As gun owners I think the best that we can hope for from the November election is that Hillary is soundly defeated and the next president nominates judges who respect our rights. Hillary is extremely unlikely to be indicted let alone spend time in jail.

Discussing this with Sean Flynn a couple weeks ago he told me that he was of the opinion Hillary could be elected even if she was in jail and that only if her health problems manifested in her death before the election would we be able to avoid another Clinton presidency. I told him I thought her supporters would be willing to elect her corpse. He agreed I was probably correct. However there are much more successful political prognosticators than either Sean or I who claim the election is already over in a landslide for Trump.

The bigger issue of the Federal government exercising far more power than it was given by the constitution and infringing upon rights at such a broad scale it’s difficult to fathom appears to be beyond our reach through mere elections. I’m of the opinion our “best” hope for that is through the economic collapse of our federal government. It appears the collapse is inevitable but I see no clear path to something better arising from the ashes.—Joe]

Proposed change in the oath of office

In making my previous post I failed to notice this. In this link is a little side bar on the subject, also from Spokane Valley, Washington.

Here’s a snip;
Spokane Valley city staff are researching a resident’s suggestion that city officials promise to “refuse to enforce any law that I deem to be unconstitutional, even if it’s upheld by the courts or I’m ordered to do so by my superiors.”

Now THAT’S what I’m talkin’ ’bout. Go read the whole thing. It needs to go farther though, if it’s to have the needed effect. It needs to include a declaration that the oath-keeper will use all means available to protect citizens from outside authorities attempting to enforce unconstitutional laws or rules. Then we’ll start to have a real, constitutional republic.

Adding; “…and to this I pledge my life, my fortunes, and my sacred honor” wouldn’t hurt either. Those in law enforcement want us to see them as the “thin blue line” which protects us from aggression? OK then; let’s get serious about it for once.

Second amendment sancturay cities

Spokane Valley city council discusses it.

I like the idea for one reason; it puts people on record as to whether they support human rights or whether they’ve allied themselves with the criminal class. Take names.

Of course we already have the second amendment, and multiple legal tools for enforcing it against all encroachment, so the logical response would be a declaration to the effect that the constitution and the enumerated rights therein, and others, will be enforced and protected with vigor in this town. Oh, how far we’ve fallen, that we contemplate special declarations and special laws to uphold what is already the Supreme Law of the Land.

There’s another mildly satisfying aspect to this proposal– The Progressives love to flout the law (it’s what they do – they’re criminals), and have created “sanctuary cities” for illegal immigrants which they view as future Democrat voters. This is a slap in their faces on that subject. Two can play at this stupid game, but the problem is that a stupid game is always a stupid game no matter who plays it. I doubt that there’s a Republican alive who understands that simple truth.

Oh how far we have fallen!

Anyway; this is the sort of thing (though poorly thought-out) that’ll eventually bring the country around to reason– The states, and in this case the cities, who love liberty will have to thumb their noses at authoritarian feds, and then be willing and able to back it with force. In this particular case it’s a pretty empty declaration, and if they were serious, as I indicated above, they’d simply use existing law to prosecute the Progressive offenders, fine them, disbar them, put them in prison or hang them, as appropriate. It’s the only way freedom survives, and the sooner we realize that the sooner we can start fixing things.

Quote of the day—Xenia

If you got me one of those shirts and I wore it to school, would you do a war dance on their desks if I got in trouble?

Xenia
January 1, 2006
Comment to Speaking of political correctness
The shirt in question:
[I’m of the opinion advocates for freedom don’t do enough “war dances”. We just want to be left alone and when someone or some group infringes upon our freedom the easiest way to be left alone is to let them have what they want. The confrontation required to assert our freedom and reclaim it is against our nature.

To the authoritarian exercising control over others and confronting people is how they get pleasure in their lives. Remember what Marthe Kent said:

And it is a thrill; it’s a high… I love it; I absolutely love it.  I was born to regulate.

When they are successful in infringing up on the freedom of others it gives them an incredible high and they want more. Their thirst for power will never end until people stand up to them and eliminate the pleasure they get from infringing upon our freedom. I’m thinking one of the new tools I’m going to put in my “tool box” when confronted by anti freedom people is to tell them because of their confrontation I’m going to donate another $100 to the NRA. And if they continue, I’ll start counting in $20 increments, $120, $140, $160… And perhaps for those who are particularly persistent I’ll tell them because of their attack I’m going to give away an “assault weapon”, without a background check, to a woman who will appreciate it. If they continue, start adding in the boxes of ammo.

Using logic and facts doesn’t have an impact on them. Pushing their emotional buttons will make it painful for them in ways that demonstrating they have little more than ignorance and a childlike belief system in imaginary solutions can’t.

Or as Glenn Reynolds is fond of saying (as well as the Obama administration) , “Punch back twice as hard.” They attack with rhetoric and I will counterattack with resource allocation to what they believe to be among the most effective and evil political organizations in the country. Their rhetorical actions will generate the possibility of real political  consequences.

In answer to Xenia’s question, over ten years ago, I asked what size she wanted, she got the shirt (obviously), she wore it to school, and I never had to do a war dance for her. I don’t know if she still even has her shirt but mine is one of my favorite shirts to wear when I go through TSA screening.—Joe]
