Gun control should be a must for all cities
[And where does he draw the line? At the city limits? Check out the FBI crime statistics on Washington D.C. and Chicago compared to their neighboring cities when they had complete bans on guns.

The limits will never end at the city, county, state, or country level. They will always want it all.

A more complex label

Rachel Dolezal, white woman who identifies as black, now jobless, may soon be homeless:

Rachel Dolezal, the infamous white woman who for years passed herself off as African American and rose to become head of an NAACP branch, is now jobless, on food stamps and expects to soon be homeless.

A defiant Dolezal, 39, recounted her current plight to The Guardian. Dolezal said she’s only been offered jobs in reality television and porno flicks. A friend helped her come up with the money for February’s rent and she doesn’t know how she’s going to pay for March.

And she still says she’s not white.

“I do think a more complex label would be helpful, but we don’t really have that vocabulary,” Dolezal told The Guardian. “I feel like the idea of being trans-black would be much more accurate than ‘I’m white.’ Because, you know, I’m not white . . . Calling myself black feels more accurate than saying I’m white.”

I agree with her. A more complex label is needed. I’ll bet a good psychologist could find one for her.

I wish her luck with therapy.

The future of America

TOPEKA — U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, delivering the keynote speech Kansas Democratic Party’s annual convention Saturday night in Topeka, told a crowd of progressives not to despair in the face of President Donald Trump’s election.

Sanders, who won the 2016 Kansas caucus by more than 35 percentage points, touted the support he received from young voters during his presidential campaign and said that he ended the campaign much more optimistic about the direction of the country than when he started it.

“Our vision, our progressive vision, is not only the future of the Democratic Party, it is the future of America,” Sanders said.

Interesting delusion. Sanders is 75 years old, he lost the nomination to the person who suffered a decisive loss in the presidential election, which was to the political party that controls a large majority of the state legislators and governorships, and he thinks his vision of the way things should be, will be the future of our country.

You have to wonder… is it Alzheimer’s or is it a hallucinogenic drug?

Spain appointed a ‘sex tsar’

Spain appoints ‘sex tsar’ in bid to boost declining population:

Spain reported a higher number of deaths than births for the first time last year 

In response and faced with an impending population crisis, the government has appointed Edelmira Barreira to the position of sex tsar. 

The portfolio was created by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Ms Barreira, a demographic expert, will help draft a document for a national strategy of demographic imbalances. 

Spain’s education ministry said the declining birth-rate “aggravates other economic imbalances and generates important “impacts” in the Welfare State”, Spanish news site ABC reported.

Well… there’s the problem. Socialism. It’s the weapon of choice when you want to destroy a people.

Last Monday I made another donation to what is now called Bloodworks Northwest (formally Puget Sound Blood Center). My online account with them goes back to 12/17/1998. It was my 80th pint on record with them. Ten gallons:

I knew it was going to be my 10th gallon and Barb wanted to celebrate. I raised an eyebrow. She elaborated, “There should be a parade or something.”

Whatever.

“I’ll blog about it”, I told her.

I have speculated before that perhaps I had donated close to a couple gallons to the Red Cross as well. I found an old Red Cross donor card:

Two units are indicated on the front and eight on the back for a total of 10 units or one gallon and two pints. I was pretty sure this wasn’t all. So I went looking online. I created an account with my birthday and what I figured was the last zip code they had for me. Bingo! They said I had donated 13 units (about 1.5 gallons):

I looked through the donation history but they only went back to April 2, 2002.

My first donation was in the mid 70’s when I was in college. I think I participated in more than one blood drive at college and donated when I worked at Boeing and Teltone in the late 70’s. I’m sure I donated at blood drives while at Data I/O in the early 80’s. I know I donated during Operation Desert Storm (early 1991) because I remember standing in line for a couple hours. And so… I don’t really know how many gallons I have donated but it is probably over 12 and perhaps close to 15.

When I was probably about 10 years old my Uncle Alden had stomach ulcer which he didn’t know about. He got very ill before his family insisted he see a doctor. An ambulance took him to the hospital (only getting up the snow covered driveway to the county road with help from either Uncle Jack or cousin Alan with the Jeep pickup). He needed several pints of blood and Dad and some of the neighbors went into town to donate in his name. Dad saw one of the neighbors there, (I’m not sure of his name, it could have been Walt Eberhart) but Dad reported back that over the years the neighbor had donated 10 gallons. This impressed Dad as well as the rest of our family.

At some point it became my goal to donate 10 gallons.

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner recently signed a new gun control law that imposes harsher penalties on those who bring in guns from out of state to sell and do not have gun-owner ID cards. Illinois already has some of the strictest gun-control laws in the nation however it’s done little to stem the violence.

Last year, marked the deadliest year the city has seen in nearly two decades with a reported 762 homicides.

[Gee… I wonder if there is a connection between “the strictest gun-control laws in the nation” and “the deadliest year the city has seen in nearly two decades”.

Of course there is.

President Trump has been suggesting he will send in troops to put an end to it. I think sending in Federal Marshals to arrest those passing and enforcing gun control laws, followed by self-defense handgun training for the average person, would work far better and be far cheaper.

But these people have spent so much time living in an alternate reality they would rather be killed that face the truth.—Joe]

Gun Song: Powderfinger by Neil Young

Powderfinger by Neil Young was released in 1979 on the Rust Never Sleeps album. According to Infogalactic, it was ranked as one of Neil’s best songs by Rolling Stone. The lyrics are the posthumous narration of a young man who attempts to protect his family against an approaching gunboat. After initial indecision, he eventually takes action, and is ultimately killed.

Neil Young, of course, is a long-time Canadian singer-songwriter and musician with an extensive rock /folk / country catalog of songs performed and written.

Norwegian Border: No Swedes?

Interesting development with the Swedish problem. Norway is considering a bill to shut its border with Sweden if it collapses. This would be in defiance of international convention. I means that Norway is taking a serious look at the problem with their long-time neighbor and saying “Holy CRAP!” The bill hasn’t passed yet, but it has “broad support.” If it passes, will it be enough to wake up Sweden to the magnitude of its problem? I don’t know. There are already a number of town with more Arabic/ME men of military age than native Swedes, by 20% or more, and there are very few (relatively speaking) muslim women of similar age. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. Anyone who cannot see it must be very highly educated / indoctrinated, or really, REALLY stupid. If they can see it and want to do this whole immigration thing anyway, they are evil.

Innovation?

Maybe I’m old-fashioned in thinking that a motor vehicle design team would set out to make something that works.

This is similar to the “flying car” company web sites. They’re “designing” things that cannot work. They’ll even pre-sell you one.

In this case, they’ve “designed” something out of science fiction fantasy. I don’t know, but I think this crosses a line, and not a good one. We have designers from two major companies getting together to roll out their brand new…nothing. It only works in the virtual world, where the laws of physics are completely flexible. I have to believe there was marijuana involved.

In my complete and honest opinion, there is no need for guns so long as other guns or weapons aren’t present. Who needs or wants to bring a gun to school for any reason other than violence? Who needs to bring a gun everywhere they go? The purpose of having a gun is for protection, and in a world without guns, there would be no reason at its presence.

Maryland reacts to federal gun control rollback efforts
[This is in regards to killing the regulation that would cause a NICS denial when someone on Social Security had turned over their finances to someone else.

I guess Pauliukonis is afraid some old codger with dyslexia will buy a gun and go on a shooting spree. I’ll bet she cannot find a single person with the conditions this regulation concerned itself with who has ever committed a violent crime with a gun.

Casting

One of the things about making a movie is that you need actors. Once you have the script/story, you have to find people who have the appearance and skills to bring the character to life on the screen. You also need someone that is mentally stable enough to be reliable, which rules out a lot of the normal leftie applicants. Eventually we will need cast and extras, and expect to do most of the filming in the VA area. Anyone here from that area (or do you know anyone from that area) who fits any of these descriptions, or wants to sign up for being an extra when we finally get to filming? Continue reading →
