Do you want to move back to America?

Quote of the Day

The Democrat governor of Colorado signed into law one of the most restrictive gun bans ever adopted in the United States. The law bans the manufacturing and selling of semiautomatic firearms. This is on top of the liberal state’s existing ban on high-capacity magazines. That’s just crazy.

So, to all gun manufacturers in Colorado, my question to you is simple. Do you want to move back to America?

Good question. It is not just the gun industries either. Look at the “wealth taxes” and “millionaire taxes” and high regulations being implemented in the Democrat socialist run states. Business and people are leaving because the further you can distance yourself from such toxins the better your life, community, and future.

  1. Apart from the 2nd Amendment argument, it would be interesting to argue that Federal law supersedes that CO state law under the Supremacy clause. After all, gun manufacturers and gun stores are regulated by Federal law.

    • Almost exclusively, too. The Federal Regulations are so extensive and all-encompassing, I would say there is an intention to “occupy the field”, if that is the correct term for creating a federal law for every eventuality, leaving no room for state laws.
Additionally, by enacting the laws exclusively at the Federal level, the laws will be consistent across state borders so people will know what the laws are, and they cannot say that criminals buy guns in one jurisdiction and cross into another (assuming they know where “out of state” is) to commit crimes.

  2. I’m not sure there are any actual firearm mfrs here, but there are companies making accessories. The legislature doesn’t care about this. They have the example of Magpul moving to WY.

SB 25-003 isn’t quite a total ban. It allows transfer of semi-autos conditioned on training requirements, and obtaining a permit.

It’s a bit difficult to get a good sense of it, since it’s an amendment to existing law, with provisions scattered throughout.

More generally, CO is becoming less friendly to business – witness the departure of Palantir. Higher energy costs, more regulation… we’re becoming more like California. This will only get worse after Polis gets replaced by someone even more lefty and compliant.

  3. Magpul left Commierado years ago for Texas and Wyoming.
You put your weed in it.
Good luck with drinking water and data centers Commierado.
    Smoke some weed.
That America you grew up in is long gone and never to return.

  4. If Virginia is driving all the gun (and gun accessory) manufacturers out of the state in order to create a more business friendly environment (and presumably that is the aim of Colorado, as well, my question is just what businesses doe these Democrat office holders envision the states will be more friendly towards?

    • No, the CO leg. isn’t trying to attract new businesses, unless those businesses are greenie-weenies or Woke/DEI loonies. The Democrat politicians here are all about the left-wing agenda, period. Also, for some reason, “growth”, but I don’t think they understand the word, they just use it as a shibboleth. Why try to attract more and more people to the state, when there isn’t enough water for those who already live here? But facing reality is never the forte of progresives.
