The truth is that most of the people who threatened to filibuster the background check bill aren’t afraid of the NRA. They’re on its side. They don’t need to be intimidated or even persuaded.

Gun control fight just beginning
[I realize it is hard for the anti-gun people to comprehend but it’s the truth.
It’s not about the NRA making money from gun sales. It’s not about the NRA buying off politician. It’s not about the NRA threatening to oppose a politician that votes the wrong way. There is no Triangle of Death as they claim.
People actually believe that people have the inalienable right to keep and bear arms and that it must not be infringed. The Bill of Rights says this. The Supreme Court of the United States has confirmed this.
The facts actually support the claim that guns are used to save more innocent lives that they used to take innocent life.
These strongly held beliefs and facts are why there exist politicians on our side. This is why we are winning.
And, most importantly, this is why the anti-gun people are on the wrong side of history and will be swept aside as we push forward to reclaim our infringed rights.—Joe]
Anti-gun people for the most part are statists, and statists believe that people never do anything unless they are either bribed or threatened into doing things. That’s why they use those tactics, and assume everyone else is doing the same. It would never occur to them that their enemies might not work that way.
Just my opinion.
The funny thing about the statists is they believe that when they disarm people and dictate every minutia of their lives that they will have peace and rainbows. They fail to acknowledge (or are comfortable with) the cost of murdering all those who will not go along and that their docile sheep will not be content because they cannot deliver. See: communist countries, most socialist countries, all dictatorships and theocracies.
Still, their unwavering belief in the ability to perfect man (necessary for their ideal societies to work), is demonstrated to be a BIG LIE by the means they use to achieve them as Robert Garrard points out. They bribe, cheat, threaten, and I will add, kill, to get their way.
Thanks, I’ll keep my guns.
Never Again!
Molon Labe!
One lie I noticed in Waldman’s piece is this statement, “the Manchin-Toomey amendment specifically forbade the government from creating a gun registry.” The bill specifically outlawed the DoJ from maintaining a registry. It said nothing about any other Federal Agency, such as DHS. It also doesn’t prevent DoJ from assisting another agency in the creation of a registry.
Lie or error? I would give him credit for being mistaken, not deceptive.
