Quote of the day—Jennifer Granholm

Right. And that actually corroborates Ford’s story.

CNN’s Jennifer Granholm Claims No Corroboration Actually Proves Claims Against Kavanaugh — Tucker Isn’t Buying It
[Context is important:

“Kavanaugh, Judge, Smith and her friend, Leland Keyser, have all said they don’t remember anything like this ever happening. And Leland Keyser, who says she believes Ford, said she doesn’t even remember being at a party where Kavanaugh was present,”  CNN’s Jake Tapper said in the video.

“Right, and that actually corroborates Ford’s story which is that she was so horrified by this that she kind of snuck out or slunk out of this apartment in a way that no one would know what happened because she was so utterly mortified,” Granholm followed up.

Tucker Carlson commented, “Are you following this at home? See if you can track the reasoning here. When you are corroborating witnesses can’t corroborate your story, the one you say they can corroborate, your story has still been corroborated — maybe even more so so.”

So… In response to finding out that all of those who are claimed to be witness to an event report no recollection of the event this mental giant, Granholm, insists this supports the claim the event actually happened. The question I would have asked her is, “So, if all four people reported the event did happen would this mean the event did not happen?”

Of course, we know the answer. Logical thought processes are not something they care about. It may even be they are incapable of them. It may be they have a mental disorder. It may be that they are so used to a supportive media they know it doesn’t matter what they say as long as it supports the narrative. It may be that because it was someone from her “tribe” making the, almost certainly, false claim that there was no way she could comfortably side against the false claim.

Monday evening daughter Jaime and I were discussing the Kavanaugh situation and I arrived at the conclusion that the political left has realized their political future is over if Kavanaugh’s appointment to SCOTUS is confirmed. With that a near certainty, the risk of losing support via crazy, and even illegal, behavior is the better option. From the chaos generated they may be able to avoid near certain political extinction.

Tribal loyalties, even when they didn’t always match reality, were evolutionarily advantageous. That doesn’t meant they were useful in determining truth from falsity. Determination of truth, and even reality, is an extremely tough problem. Our brains only have approximations of knowing reality. It has only been since the dark ages that we have succeeded in formalizing processes, with extreme difficulty, and proteolyzing these processes which usually work. Most people do not follow these processes and in many cases actively reject them. It is relatively easy to support the claim that reason is just a thin veneer over the human brain.

I suspect her mind worked back from the conclusion she had reached and this was the best way of rationalizing the conclusion from the available evidence. I have found there is no guarantee smart people will think logically. Smart people are frequently just more creative in their rationalizations.

When in positions of power these people are extremely dangerous. These are the type of people who can and will find a rationalization to commit genocide.—Joe]

  1. You can certainly give them the benefit of the doubt and conclude they are merely mentally defective. I don’t think that’s warranted, though. The more plausible answer is that they are evil, and they are perpetrating these bizarre things deliberately.

    • This. They hate us and want us dead but they are not stupid or even crazy in any conventional sense.

  2. ‘No corroboration actually proves her story.’

    Why am I reminded of the old Infocom Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy game, where at one point you had to have ‘tea’ and ‘no tea’ in your inventory, and to do that you had to excise common sense from your brain?

    And this comes on the heels of telling off some halfwit who said I was stupid for wanting to preach the gospel of self-defense to everyone and not just white males. It’s not even 10 AM and I need a drink!

  3. “…reason is just a thin veneer over the human brain.”

    I am convinced that one’s allegiance generally trumps one’s ability to reason.

    Just now on Rush Limbaugh; “We’re up against the normalization of psychological disorders.”

    Yes, of course, and it’s the same as it ever was. This is how “Bork” became a verb, for example, even before some of you reading this were born. Before that, the Soviet Union demonstrated that criminal insanity, even unto regular mass murder over a period lasting for decades, could be not only accepted but praised and promoted by American media.

    Kavanaugh, like practically all Republican nominees, is being Borked. So? Why would anyone expect anything different? Rather than feeling frustrated you should be feeling confident that you called it before it happened. It’s that easy.

    Be careful that you don’t get wrapped up in this. Republicans and Democrats may appear to be playing “two sides” but that’s a ruse. That’s what Karl Marx referred to as the “Dialectic Method”. You can root for the Seahawks or you can root for the Patriots, but either way you’re being pulled into a game, and no matter who “wins” the league and the media always profit and their agenda is always advanced.

    The “good cop” and the “bad cop” may also be very convincing actors, but if you fall for their act AT ALL then you’re making a huge mistake.

    If you find this frustrating or exasperating, etc., the ruse is working on you. It’s doing the only job on you that it needs to do. If we end up shooting at each other over something like this, or if we’re driven to drink, then so much the better for the authoritarian alliance. Agitation, disruption and demoralization are ends unto themselves.

  4. I’ll point to the Bible as I’ve come to do, being that it speaks directly and specifically to all important issues, whatever else you may think about it. This is from Ephesians 6 (KJV);

    11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

    12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

    13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

    14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

    15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

    16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

    17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

    18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

    19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

    20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

    Indeed we are at war, and we are soldiers therein, and in constant training in arms, but it’s not the kind of war that’s regularly characterized by our corrupted culture.

    The narrative on this blog has changed a little bit, from exasperation and frustration and frequent mocking of the regular stream of “stupidity”, of “ignorance” and “insanity” coming out of the authoritarians, and now it’s entering into that completely different interpretation which is to see evil intent as evil intent, and criminality as criminality for its own sake, and to see how it results in deliberate deception, play-acting and the deliberate utterance of nonsense to further that evil. That’s hugely significant.

    As the alliance of evil advances it’s agenda, and it surely will, these things will become more and more obvious to more and more people. Therefore in approaching its success that alliance will have exposed and ultimately destroyed itself.

  5. If you tie a large stone to an accused witch and throw her into a pond, a witch will float and live. If she sinks and dies, she will have proved she is not a witch.

  6. One would like to give the left the benefit of the doubt and assume they are incapable of rational thought. And I suspect that is actually true for MANY
    leftists. The problem is that you generally don’t rise to positions of power,
    influence and important by being an idiot. This means that most of those
    spewing this nonsense aren’t doing so because they are incapable of understanding the fact that NO EVIDENCE means NO GUILT. The actual
    fact is THEY DON’T CARE about evidence…..at all. This is NOT just an
    attack on Judge Kavanaugh. This is a full scale frontal assault by the left
    on two fundamental tenets of American society that they hate. One is the
    concept of “Due Process” and the other is then idea of “Innocent until proven guilty”. BOTH of these ideas interfere with their agenda……that of TOTAL CONTROL. So both are being attacked in a full scale effort to nullify them.
    Keeping Kavanaugh off the bench is just icing on that cake.
