Gun-Free Zones So You Feel Safer

Via Mike Kilo @Mike___Kilo:

Mostly true. It is also true that innocent victims are not allowed to use guns in them either.

The part about feelings is completely true and reflects the reality that feelings need not intersect with reality.

  1. You know, I’ve got a better idea. Let’s create “murder free” zones. Criminals aren’t allowed to murder there.

    Idiocy. Deliberate avoidance of reality.

  2. While that is, technically, “the way it works” — criminals are not, in fact, allowed to use guns in “gun-free” zones — it’s missing the part where criminals, by definition, do things they aren’t allowed to do…

… which is also “the way it works.”

  3. “Feeling safer in gun free zones” is the entire point; gun free zones are not intended to actually create safety, only the feeling of safety.

And, if one possesses only tenuous contact with actual reality, “feeling” is enough, and serves well the needs and desires of The Manipulators.

    • And if “feelings” don’t match experiences, that’s clearly a call for a government program to “fix” reality. (And blame those who called out the disconnect in the beginning).

    • Just like the TSA, at least for the first several years (MAYBE it’s better now…), was often called “security theater”, designed to make the ignorant *feel* better without actually doing the hard work of real security.
