The Wheels of Justice are Slow

Quote of the Day

Considering the current political climate and how vigorously the Trump administration has championed the right to keep and bear arms, the Second Amendment community has reason to be optimistic we will ultimately prevail on the AR-15 issue before the end of President Donald Trump’s second term.

I think the Supreme Court will ultimately rule that “semi-automatic rifles,” including the AR-15, are protected under the Second Amendment—and it wouldn’t surprise me if Kavanaugh authors that opinion.

Kavanaugh Hints Supreme Court on Track to Strike Down AR-15 Bans

The Heller decision was just short of 17 years ago. I knew it would not settle things. A year or two after the Heller decision, Alan Gura said we would be fighting these battles twenty years later.

The wheels of justice move incredibly slow. But they are moving, and they are moving in the right direction.

  1. Should they do that, the decision writing would go to the senior justice on the prevailing side which would almost certainly be Thomas which would be much better than to have it authored by a squish. There is an odd old boy practice in the Court of spreading around opinion writing in an equal fashion. The Chief Justice can manipulate this to some extent and will undoubtedly try as Roberts would want the opinion to be squishy but Thomas and Alito know the game and are capable of dissenting on some minor case that they actually agree with to ensure they have not used all their chits when the big ones come. Kavanaugh may well write a concurring opinion as the practice is to have the weakest opinion that determines the outcome to be the one that establishes the precedent. I am not convinced that there are 5 votes for the good guys.

  2. Ya, but we live in a divided country now. The SCOTUS isn’t going to lay down any law short kicking rogue judges from their bench that will have an impact.
Everybody already knows what “shall not be infringed” means and where it applies.
Their communists. They are going to play this game of legal whack-ah-mole with the 2A till it can’t be played anymore. Just like they have for the last 40+ years.
And just like the rest of society in America. We need to get more serious about who and what we’re dealing with.
And the way we have been playing around the issue? Kavanaugh ain’t got two years. (Color revolutions working the way they do.)
This Saturday could be the “Shot heard round America.” After which SCOTUS will be totally irrelevant.

  3. I don’t think we can get an honest, clear-cut decision on a major gun case until whatever kompromat or threat-leverage they have on ACB, Roberts, et al, is dealt with.

  4. For gun grabbers and the communist left the issue of ‘gun control’ is NEVER settled. And they will NEVER cease attempting to ban gun ownership. EVER!
