Incomprehensively Clueless

Quote of the Day

Now we’re seeing it in Colorado, but we’ve seen it across the country. We are still in the midst of a gun violence epidemic. So we need to be acting with due concern for human life. I mean, this is why, of course, we have been fighting for universal, violent criminal background checks. We are for a ban on military-style assault weapons in the country. You know, our lax gun laws are a danger to everybody in America.

Jamie Raskin
US Representative, (D-MD)

Raskin uses Boulder attack to push stricter gun control – Washington Examiner

A group of innocent, unarmed (this is Colorado), people were attacked by someone with Molotov Cocktails, and a makeshift flame thrower. And this guy thinks this is justification for banning guns? This is further justification for concealed carry. Can you imagine the change in the outcome if, after the first confirmation of attack, someone had popped the attacker, a few of his Molotov Cocktails, and/or the gas tank on his flamethrower?

Is Raskin nuts? Mind bogglingly evil?

Oh. Yeah. Never mind we should have already known he was nuts and/or evil. His party is polling in the toilet at slightly better than used car salesmen. This is in part because of their gun control agenda, and he is doubling down at a completely inappropriate time. This is further confirmation of his abysmal mental health and/or evil intent.

  1. > unarmed (this is Colorado)

Given the lack of armed citizen response at this, and other indicents, I can understand the characterization, but I think it’s missing the mark.

While it’s true that CO has been moving leftward, there’s still a lot of pro-gun sentiment, and even law, here. See https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/co-gun-laws/

I’ll take any such statistics with a grain of salt, but what I can find indicates a 45% gun ownership rate, which I suspect is under-reported. But this is only a single data point, and I can only speculate on why it is we haven’t seen the armed citizen responses here. In general – this isn’t just a Colorado issue – I think that people still simply don’t expect this sort of thing.

    • It is extremely foolish for Jews not to expect this sort of thing and prepare for it especially when the tools are ready to hand as you say. I am reminded of the supermarket shooting in Boulder a few years back by another Islamic terrorist. Apparently, no one there was armed either. Since I have been in a couple of supermarkets that were later shot up (including Boulder), I consider that as my major point of vulnerability. Not only am I always armed but I have given a lot of thought to tactics within the store.

    • Is there any city in Colorado that’s more blue than Boulder? Beautiful location, full of lefty crackpots.

    • that or fear of being sent to prison for life (in a blue city) for using your God given right to protect yourself and others…

      • Yes, because we weigh the risks and most of us realize that our chance of being accosted by an LEO are greater than our chance of coming across an active crime.

  2. “Gun control” is part of the agenda. Anything can be used as justification. “Climate change” and tax fraud can be cited as reasons to enact more “gun control”.

It doesn’t have to make sense.

However, it is interesting to me to see that people at large are starting to wake up to the misdirection. The way Jamie Baskin is talking, you’d think that firebombing was a mass shooting. But it’s widely reported and well-known that the attacker was in the U.S. illegally (overstayed his visa, which expired in March, IIRC), used Molotov cocktails and an improvised flamethrower — no guns — and shouted “Free Palestine!” at a bunch of Jews holding a peaceful vigil.

What’s most amazing is that Jamie Baskin, who certainly is aware of the facts around this attack, truly thought he could get away with hijacking the story to stump for “gun control”. In the pre-Trump era, that might have worked. But now, not so much.

  3. “Oh. Yeah. Never mind we should have already known he was nuts and/or evil. ”

Politician, that makes it pure evil. No matter how idiotic he puts it.
Just like Oct. 7. Everybody wants to whine about evil after the fact. But nobody wants to stand ready to fight evil the moment it finds them.
The world with humans in it is evil. No way around that.
Stand ready to fight it or be prepared to perish from it.
Horribly on fire in this case. (Apparently granny didn’t teach her children anything about the holocaust.)
    Oh well.
Pull out a flamethrower around me hadji, please, make my day.

  4. You do know that if someone had terminated this attack while in its early stage, we would have never heard about it. It would have been relegated to the last page of the second section of the printed news(propaganda)paper and never seen the light of day on broadcast media. That and who ever was prepared enough and committed enough to make a difference in the quality of life for a number of people would most likely be sitting in a jail, charged with a felony. Something is seriously wrong here.

  5. Gasoline is far more dangerous than any firearms. Available in hundreds of locations. No back round checks needed for purchase. No age restrictions or where it can be carried. Containers for them – we literally throw them away by the thousands. Simple construction that can be done in seconds.

And congresscritter is scairt of ‘gun violence’ ?

  6. The quote from Raskin reminds me of the old definition of a fanatic: someone who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.

    Firebombing terrorist? Ban guns!
    Civil unrest? Ban guns!
    Jay walking epidemic? Ban guns!
Apple butter price increases? Ban guns!

    • Exactly!
Russia stops exporting caviar to the United States? Ban Guns!
Truancy epidemic in middle schools? Ban Guns!
