Fake, But Accurate

Quote of the Day

Attributed to the Brady Campaign
2013

This meme was falsely attributed to The Brady Campaign. It is still accurate. This is a valid conclusion of the result of their desired gun policies.

It makes you realize there is some seriously sick thinking going on in the anti-self-defense organizations.

See also this analysis. It explains why we can conclude it is not a creation of the Brady Campaign. It is also not from another anti-gun organization.

  1. Looks to me like a false flag meme created by a pro-gun person who is trying to stir up anti-Brady sentiment. A pretty obvious failure, and unfortunately it makes pro-gun folks (or at least this individual) look bad.

    • My thought exactly.

We expect this kind of false-flag and “straw-man” stuff from the anti-gun side. And while there is often value in “fighting fire with fire”, one of our biggest virtues is that we’re honest.

As the saying goes, “If your cause is righteous, why lie about it?” Our cause is righteous; engaging in falsity to “support” it undermines us more than it helps us.

    • I’m going with a blue–anon psych-op to make the right look bad.
      It was Brady all along.
Doesn’t it sound like something Hogg would come up with?

  2. I don’t think that’s an accurate depiction of the thinking of anti-2A parasites.

I don’t think they are callously accepting rape, as a means to the end of gun confiscation.

I think, rather, that the rape and murder, and overall crime and chaos, are the whole point of it.

I believe it is largely a sadistic desire to cause horror and pain in others. Basically, every time a woman is raped because she lacks the means of self defense, that is their equivalent of the magazines in the ADULTS ONLY section of the liquor store.

The difference between them and us is not a philosophical one. It is a moral difference. We don’t flog the dolphin to pictures of rape victims. They do.

This is also why they are so enamored of illegal immigrant murder gangs, and of Hamas.

  3. Was there any evidence presented that the Brady Campaign didn’t create it, other than the Brady Campaign president claiming they didn’t?

The linked Snopes offers no evidence or analysis, other than the aforementioned verbal denial from the Brady Campaign president … which sounds an awful lot like a politician responding to someone asking about an earlier comment by saying, “I never said that.” They can deny it, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. (To be fair, it doesn’t mean it did, either. It generally doesn’t mean anything.)

The linked Grok conversation focuses on the truth in the text, and concludes that it is not true (which most of us already knew). However, that doesn’t tell us who did or didn’t create it; Grok’s linked sources simply cite the same denial from the Brady Campaign.

That said, it’s completely possible that it was a Photoshopped image of their Facebook page, or a fake mock-up website made to look like their Facebook page. People do that, too (just look at some “phishing” sites built to resemble legitimate business sites).

My point is, every “conclusion” on the source of that meme says it’s not from the Brady Campaign, but no evidence or analysis is offered other than the Brady president’s denial. As most anti-gun groups are fundamentally dishonest, that doesn’t carry much weight with me.

Ronald Reagan’s famous phrase, “Trust, but Verify,” comes to mind, but for the purposes of this analysis I’m seeing a lot of the former and very little of the latter.

At the end of the day, I suppose it matters very little. Nobody is using these memes seriously on either side. It’s more a historical curiosity than anything else.

  4. Maybe the BradyBunch did this…maybe they didn’t. You can bet the farm that’s exactly what they believe…

  5. I don’t believe they created it just because it’s too “on the nose”. They use weasel words, misdirection and obfuscation to confuse the public about their policies and goals, they don’t just come right out and say it.

They’re evil, not stupid. They know their policies and the results of them are hugely unpopular in the clear light of day, so they do their best to make sure their agenda never, ever sees the clear light of day.

Remember, it’s only about gun safety and they’re not out to take anyone’s guns away.

    Right?

  6. I went to your link, the blue Analysis, and posted about the experience of a girlfriend I once dated. She had a terrible experience at her graduate school in Arizona, and as my Mother said to me later, It was more terrible than she has ever told anyone. It has haunted her ever since, and she runs from every relationship once it gets too close.
The idea that rape is only a momentary bad experience is a fraud. It was a fraud when that faker Alfred Kinsey said that whether it was rape or not depended on if her parents were awake when she returned home.

Grok responded, saying that it was a very powerful and well written comment.
I can’t find it now, to save my life. I don’t know that discussion board formerly known as Twitter very well at all.
