Quote of the Day
A district court has ruled that members of the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) nationwide can soon apply for a non-resident carry permit in California.
The United States District Court for the Central District of California issued a preliminary injunction in CRPA v. LASD, SAF’s legal challenge to the refusal of California officials to allow non-resident carry permits in the state.
“The judge ruled that as a SAF member your right to carry a firearm for self-defense doesn’t stop at the California border just because you are a resident of another state,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “This is just one more benefit of being a SAF member.”

SAF MEMBERS ELIGIBLE FOR CA NON-RESIDENT CARRY PERMITS – Second Amendment Foundation
This will be interesting. I expect there will be some severe requirements for the application. Such as you must be present to apply and pick up the permit and perhaps even more in-person visits required. The price will be high. There may be requirements such as owning property or working in the state. I expect them to be very creative.
As I have friends and relatives in California, I will be inclined to get a permit. But that is going to depend on how difficult and expensive they make the process.
I will be waiting for the Supreme Court to overturn the everywhere is a sensitive place law. But I won’t be holding my breath.
” I expect them to be very creative.”
Yup, as creative as we allow communists to be.
That’s what happens when we allow the message and fight to get beyond, “shall not be infringed.”
Just like if I have a human right to protect and defend myself. Why don’t I have a right to protect and defend my hearing?
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Pretty frick’in simple. And if you can’t understand it, you’re to ignorant to be in a position of power. Or the grown-ups table for that matter.
How is any of this is even debatable?
Miller was in 1934. Almost a 100 years ago.
Sorry for airing my frustration, but damn!
Not one lawyer as ever taken it straight at them in a 100 years?
Law or not, if you’re not carrying a gun in Cartelafornia? Darwin has a place for you.
Asking California for a legal framework to carry a gun means you’re the one who’s insane. Their freaking communists.
They’ll get creative, then they’ll get sued again. Can’t have different requirements for nonresidents. There’s that whole “ all are equal before the law” thing. I think that’s why they just lost. You can’t stop nonresidents from getting their permits, as it makes them nonequal
The right answer is nationwide reciprocity, mandated by Article 4 Sections 1 and 2 (“Full faith and credit” and “all privileges and immunities”).
If a marriage in one state is valid in another state, it must follow that the same applies to carry permits.
The restrictions are so onerous that most people in Kali don’t bother. They will be as bad or worse for non residents. Hopefully they can pass the bill forcing reciprocity so that Kali HAS to honor a permit from another state. Then they can start suing the Kal JustUs department in Sac for all the ridiculous hoops and restrictions they will attempt to enforce. Any way you look at it this is a step forward…a very small step but still progress.
