It is Not the Product, It is the Sales Pitch

Quote of the Day

We’re going to have to stop treating health care access, affordable housing, and taxing the rich as mere theory or political talking points and start rolling out plans district by district, state by state, until they become federal policy. We’re going to have to confront our elitist tendencies and recognize the intrinsic value of all professions and the rich experiences of those without formal degrees. And we’re going to have to show what we’re made of as the strong, reliable, and authentic leaders voters crave.

I believe we can still rebuild trust with Americans. I believe we can still reinforce our commitment to representing the needs and values of all citizens. We just have to get out of our emotional, hypersensitive, politically correct way and focus on the labor of changing our public image. Unless we’re too afraid, too good, or just too damn late.

Democrats Need To Drop the Elitism if We Want To Win Again | Opinion – Newsweek

What I find most interesting is she has a clue but still doesn’t get the big picture. She understands they have been condescending and out of touch with people in the “fly over” states. But she thinks the products they have to sell are still the right products. They just need be better salespeople. It apparently is beyond her comprehension that people exist who just want to be left alone. Less government is not an item in her sales catalog.

  1. Intrinsic value of all professions? So she is saying that a person who attends high school, followed by 12 years of medical school and residency has the same value as the guy working in the kitchen at Taco Bell?

    • Yep, she is still stuck on Marx and his “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” and can’t understand why that has never worked and never will as long as compulsion is the necessary driver.

    • My view is that all professions deserve respect – elite liberals shouldn’t be looking down their noses at the hard working folks that service our society and keep it running. But higher education doesn’t always equate with value to society. Does a psychologist with all that medical school and residency actually have more value than an aircraft mechanic for Alaska Air? I’d suggest not.

    • I can think of plenty of people who would be happier if southern Oregon (from Coos Bay south, say), and the northernmost bit easternmost half of California were split off and kept in the union. Also split Michigan – everything from Flint south and east goes to the People’s Republic of Canada. Take away Flint, Detroit, and the first rings of suburbs and MI is a quite red state. And I think there are lots of farmers in upstate NY that would be better Americans than the average Ohioan or Wisconsinite, for instance.

Then we should get something in return. Say, Ontario north of Lake Superior, the Northwest Territories, and maybe Alberta?

  2. More re the map: … and I think that eastern BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba might be interested in joining us as part of a trade.

  3. Sounds like she’s trying to be reasonable. (Repacked BS.) But I fully expect to see little commie heads going all s’plody with the likes of Matt Gaetz as AG.
What almost no communist gets is the fact that after you lie to yourself for 10 years or better. It becomes a lifestyle.
Your totally comfortable with your BS to the point you just can’t believe anyone else could think differently.
Usually not a big deal. But for communists the only answer is to kill you if you don’t “truly believe”.
So get ready folks. The most dangerous time we face is when they realize there is no hope. That’s table flipping time.
Not that the useful idiots are that ready to do much more violence than voting.
But the real communists have imported the one that will get violent. (NY mayor Adams is going to stop paying for their rooms and services, anyone?)

As for redrawing borders? F–k that! They don’t own the coasts. They got little blue hot spots they live in. It’s part of the psyops that they control large majorities and areas.
15 to 20 big cities is what they have.
If they don’t like us. They can get the f– out. Move to f–k’in England. Germany seems to be just the place for them.
Time to reverse the Marial boat lift.
Revamp some old cruise ships into “Freedom Ships”, And head’em to Liberia and such places. (Some place where nobody minds if you shit in the streets or not.)
Give’em the freedom to be all the communist they can be.
As for America. God had us try communism when we first got here. To sink it in real good, that it just doesn’t work. (Hell, it barely worked for Christ’s apostles.)
We need to be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
So, if you just can’t bring yourself to pledge allegiance to the American flag, and nation for which it stands?
Better start packing, should be the message. Cause Tom Homan’s coming. And he got a whole divisions of Hoo-yahs to back him up.

    • P.S. These people put a 75 year old grandma in prison for two years for praying at an abortion clinic.
They have no legal, moral, or ethical grounds to do anything on American soil, anymore or ever again.
      None of them.

        • OK, I agree, and I was being a bit hyperbolic. Alright, OK, a lot hyperbolic.
But these are communists, after all. (The largest murdering death cult to ever walk the earth.)
Individuals should be paying for their crimes. Individually.
But that’s exactly why we’re here. The literal enemy of humanity has gotten a vote in our justice system.
And groups of people always have to/end-up paying for what they allow our leaders to do or become.
You and I, along with most of the people in America believe exactly what you expressed.
And we always run the danger of becoming that which we set out fighting against.
And God knows no one on the face of this earth would die happier, knowing he was totally full of crap than me.
And knowing how few of them there truly are? I pray we can return America to the land everyone has been fleeing to for centuries, looking for that justice, without blood. Or collective punishment.
But there the one’s corrupting the system. And calling for our collective blood.
          Not us.
To quote J.R.R. Tolkien. “Wither you would have open war or not. Open war is upon you.”
They’re the ones actively killing and jailing us for their precious collective.
All I’m suggesting is deporting them. (Well maybe more if the need arises.)

        • Fair IS fair. I think it is fair to impose group guilt on those who impose group guilt on others.
Of course the contrary view was held by General George Crook, aka “Two Star” to the Indians, who believed that the way to introduce the concept of individual guilt to the tribes was to pursue and punish only the individuals who had committed the horse thievery, murdering, and farm burning, and not any Indian who happened to be nearby and more lightly armed.

        • “I would like to remind you of the concept of individual guilt as opposed to group guilt.”

Individual guilt is a basic precept of the philosphy of western justice: Punish only the evil-doer. Condemning an entire group for the actions of one, or a few, is anathema to the fair-minded.

But….there is this thing called “the felony murder rule” in which a “supporting associate” – aka “accessory before the fact” and “accessory after the fact”- is liable for the full penalties due the sole evil-doer on the basis that his actions at least partially, and potentially in whole, allowed the crime to occur.

I am not suggesting the entire tribe be sentenced to purgatory for the actions of a single brave, but a certain penalty structure allowing punishment against the “accessory(ies) before the fact” – an enabler – for drawing the map, or holding the reins while another individual commits the offense is a not unreasonable legal position to ensure the application of true blame where it actually lies. In such cases the amount of liability should be, and routinely is, examined to determined the degree of “guilt by association,” often resulting in lesser, and sometimes, much lesser penalties for the accessories.

In the instance to which MTHead is referring, I think examination of the event will show that while deserved punishment should fall against the actual identified perpetrators, condemning a larger cohort, even, potentially, the entirety of all present or even to those merely sharing the philosophy, is not necessarily out of line. Whether that condemnation should extend to application of penalties within the legal structure is a matter of conjecture and cause for examination by the relevant authorities.

In a non-legal sense, however, those not bound by statutory constriction or directive are free, under our Constitution, to deny the Right of Association to those whose beliefs and practices are sufficiently opposed to common order and discipline. Eventually, enough shunning, of both degree and quantity and degree, will result in some amount of reconsideration on the part of the enablers.

Or, drive them into self-reinforcing enclaves which may require Other Means To Rectify; prepare accordingly.

    • Not a bug, but a feature.
We must consider who has the trained personnel in the safe handling of those “Items.” A TV commentator or Diversity Director won’t have that important and indispensable training.
It’s for everyone’s safety, you see.

  4. While we are pushing some states into Canada, let’s take the time to return New Mexico back to Old Mexico.

    • Why? Mexico owned New Mexico for what, 25 years before they sold it to us?
We forget that most of the southwest belonged to Spain. (Spanish land grants, anyone?) As well as all of Mexico.
And that shortly after winning Independence. !821. Mexico started a war with us, 1846. Got their asses kicked. Then sold us that land.
And today if one drives in a 100-mile radius of say, Deming, NM. About the only thing you will see is what Americans have built.
Why do you think Mexicans have to come here to work? Cause Mexico is what?
It’s a corrupt shit-hole that no one can get ahead in except the brutal and well connected.
Even real Mexicans don’t want it back. Just the cartels and their government lackies.

  5. Apparently the left is realizing that they couldn’t RAM IT DOWN OUR THROATS. So their new approach is going to be trying to con people into buying their bullshit. Sadly that approach may actually work better than brute force. As long as inflation doesn’t stay sky high. All the bullshit on the planet doesn’t make up for normal people being unable to afford food and utilities.
