Pretty much a perfect response and implementation of the active shooter protocol. Officer was in the area giving a seat belt lecture to children. Shots fired and he grabs his rifle and runs toward the danger.
Back when the active shooter protocol was new (post Columbine) I had the training director for the SLCPD tell me, “yeah, it’s dangerous but we’re the cops and it’s our duty.”
For all the hyperventilating about Uvalde, that was an outlier. I have never seen a good explanation for why they didn’t follow their training.
