Quote of the day—Roberta X

Don’t kid yourself that you’re in the clear because of your ancestors; it wasn’t just Jews, and the others weren’t all gay or gypsies, either: the politically unpopular got one-way trips, too.  Once a nation starts down that path, each step into evil is easier than the one before.

You don’t have to like politics, but you’ve gotta keep an eye on it.  No matter who you are.

Holocaust Remembrance Day
[The German people of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s are best known for their evil behavior but the Russians while Stalin was in power easily eclipsed the German body count. The Chinese killed millions at various times during the 20th Century. The Rwanda genocide wasn’t on the same scale in absolute numbers but may have account for as much as 20% of the population. The examples are incredibly and depressingly numerous.

There is one thing governments, of any type of people, do very well and that is killing people. We have lots of government in this country and it going to require lots of attention until we can get it back down to the originally designed limits. The stakes are incredibly high if it goes totally malignant.

This is Why Boomershoot. It’s next weekend. Be there if you can. You can be part of the solution if things go really bad.—Joe]

  1. The target list can get very broad. In Cambodia it was anyone who was suspected of any western influence or education. This could be interpreted by the troops on the ground as pretty much anyone they felt like killing.

    • So much hate.

Think it can’t happen here? Remember that we interned our fellow citizens just because they were of Japanese ancestry.

Now imagine that our government (or its subservient judges) rule something or someone is to receive special treatment because of the preferences of a political or religious group (or alternatively, in spite of the objections of the same). Well, it is really inconvenient for there to be an opposition group to what the government deems to be special. Sometimes it is just easier to eliminate the annoyances.

Pick your group: Christians, muslims, atheists, Democrats, Republicans, Tea Partiers, communists, Apple device users, homosexuals, heterosexuals, Android device users, and so on.

What’s the one thing that slows down the government? Armed citizens. Be prepared. Do not go quietly into the cold night.

  2. If it goes malignant?

That ship has sailed; the issue now is how badly has it metastasized, and can the patient be saved or should we start planning the funeral arrangements.

    • If it goes totally malignant. It hasn’t started the mass killings yet. I tried to chose my words carefully but couldn’t find the words to get across the concept succinctly. I went for brevity rather than clarity.

      • OK, got it.

Which leads to: Should that come to pass, there’s a chance it will go from (today’s) slightly-to-moderately malignant (which seems to vary by state) to grossly malignant in a fairly short time frame. I’ll offer that “grossly malignant” will probably begin with something other than the 21st century version of railroad cars to the showers.
What do you see as the initial markers of impending gross malignancy?

  3. There is one thing governments, of any type of people, do very well and that is killing people.

This is a natural consequence of policies that give government a special monopoly on the use of force. Monopolies tend to grow unless something stops them… and, once they become corrupt, they stay corrupt, unless something stops them.

Our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they established a government that was lean, hungry, and perpetually at war with itself. We’ve come a long way from there, haven’t we?
