Seven hours before the law was set to take effect, a federal judge late Wednesday blocked Connecticut’s new ban on the sale of “convertible pistols” that users can easily turn into hand-held machine guns firing 1,000 rounds per minute.
The preliminary injunction against the “Glock switch” bill does not strike down the law, which was the heart of a gun-control bill proposed by Gov. Ned Lamont last spring and adopted by the state legislature.
Rather, the order by Judge Kari A. Dooley sets up a potentially long legal battle over the provision, between the state and the parties that won the block after filing for it on Sept. 21: Glock Inc., the maker of the highly popular pistols at issue; the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry group; a separate manufacturer; and a firearms retailer.
Dooley, in Bridgeport federal court, said in her order that the disputed provisions “are likely unconstitutional under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution,” and therefore cannot take effect Thursday.

This is not the final word. It is just a temporary injunction. Still, at a bare minimum the law is going be delayed for many months and perhaps permanently thrown out.
Even if the mortar has not been applied it is still another brick in the wall.

So, a Glock can be made to fire at 1,000 rounds per minute.
There are how many rounds in the magazine? 17? In effect a Glock can be made to empty its magazine in 1.02 seconds? What would be the rate of climb of the line of bullets at that rate of firing?
Even if you aim center of mass, will there be so much climb and the bullets come out so fast that the first one would hit above the target’s head?
This is no fun after the second box if you have to buy the ammo yourself.
This is yet another panic button, some imagined threat to get the people all agitated and beg the government to buy their liberties in exchange for some imagined security.
As Colonel Jeff Cooper was fond of wishing the graduates of his Gunsite classes, “May all your enemies be on full auto.”
Maybe the best saying is, “You can’t miss fast enough to win.”
What the “Glock switch” Is emulating is the Model 18 Glock. It’s a select fire pistol. Identical to the G17 (first model sold), with the addition of a small lever on the side of the slide that controls the “full or semi” action setting. Very controllable shooting with some training time. Easy to fire just two rounds at a time. In my experience, the maximum burst size for anti-personnel use at 15 yards was six rounds on a single silhouette target (B-27?). If you hold the trigger longer, the rest will miss over the head.

BTW, this was a Hollywood gun, with the original barrel reinstalled. I forget which movie it was used in. Maybe Waterworld? One of a pair.

I think you mean the second bullet would hit above the target’s head; that first one should be center-of-mass unless the time for a bullet to transit the barrel is greater than the time to fire the next round. I could be wrong.
