Quote of the Day
We used to believe — still see this in comments — that the left (and their distant patron the USSR) were ultimately good at one thing: propaganda. And for a long time, they seemed to be so. They could convince people of the most ridiculous things and more importantly, they’d made leftism into a positional good. If you wanted to show you were high class you’d be as leftist as possible in public, all the way to communist.
Turns out though that this wasn’t in any way shape or form a natural system, any more than the public schools are. It turns out they could act superior, sell leftism as a positional good, and act like we were the baddies because they controlled critical positions in the information/art/entertainment industrial complex. They could therefore keep out anyone who disagreed with them, and act like all smart people agreed with the most outrageous idiocies of the communist mind.
… but this is not the case anymore. And it’s becoming glaringly obvious it was all fake.
In fact, the more distributed the information system gets the more the left is becoming like the mean girls once they leave high school: bitter, vociferous, and attracting only the mentally ill.
…
The reign of the mean girls is coming to an end. First slowly (these last 20 years) then suddenly, you’ll see communists and leftists in general being derided as the sapskulls with nothing but evil and vain gloating on their side.
Their fall will be sudden and terrible.
And glorious.

The Mean Girls – According To Hoyt
She is describing a broader version what I suggest is happening in the gun restriction domain as Nearing Structure Collapse. This also ties in with the potential overturning of Wickard v. Filburn.
Interesting. It is nice to think about. Let’s come back to this in a few years.
We think of Markley’s Law as being the sign of adolescent minds, who are too obsessed with sex to actually be able to explain their views on the Second Amendment.
But in fact it was once one of many arms of the powerful antigun hydra. Its specific purpose was to blur the obvious fact that antigun groups were actively opposed to freedom. After all, they were the cool kids who supported the really important freedom: the right to sexual pleasure. All those gun nuts were a bunch of religious fanatics who just were too closed minded to get any action, so hyuk hyuk, let’s go all Waco on their asses!
I hope Sarah is correct, but I’m afraid our “Karen” problem in western civilization is going to get worse before it improves. The current Gen Z marriage and birth rates are abysmal.
In interview after interview the Gen Z women are all chasing the same fraction of one percent who make over $200,000 per year, are under 30 years old, over 6 feet tall, with the body and face of Adonis, and who expects nothing from them except that they will excel at self-care and be decorative.
More Karen’s creating themselves all the time as they age out of their peak fertility years and “hit the wall” alone and childless for the rest of their miserable lives.
Misery loves company. Karen’s are looking forward to sharing their misery with all of society.
I suppose I would be happier if I were an optimist but I would rather be right. On the occasions when I am wrong, it’s a pleasant surprise rather than an unpleasant one. So here’s my prediction. There is 0% chance that the Supremes, as currently constituted will blow up interstate commerce law. Some tinkering is possible if the facts in a case are sufficiently absurd.. WvF facts were absurd enough.
Orwell called it in 1984.
“It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy.”
Sounds like “mean girls” is an accurate description to me.
I suspect that after a US civil war or major political overhaul, it will be at the very least a major point of discussion that the 19th Amendment was a mistake, and the founders had the gist of voting rights (established /property-owning men, meaning productive, stable men a stake in the long-term future) correct, and quite possible that female suffrage will be removed.
I agree that universal suffrage has been a disaster for Western Civilization. When or if we restrict the franchise again in an attempt to bar voting to the self indulgent, emotionally immature and non-contributing, I’d much rather allow anyone who pays property taxes and is not a convicted felon and is not mentally ill to vote. Or implement Heinlein’s suggestion and only allow honorably discharged veterans to vote. Yes, the 19th amendment is destroying the US, but there are some competent women with good judgment out there. For that reason, between those two systems I prefer Heinlein’s. In a properly functioning military they will never allow you to join if you’re already prescribed psychoactive medication just to deal with daily life. That would eliminate a decent chunk of Karens by itself
If I had more faith that the US Gov’t would use our troops wisely for national defense, and not for endless overseas wars for oil, drugs, Military-Industrial-Complex profits, and foreign entanglements, I’d agree. Certainly having that as -one- possible way to earn franchise is reasonable (and I think it _should_ be earned, not granted willy-nilly to everyone with a pulse or fraud scheme).
Propaganda is only effective on the willfully ignorant and the weak minded.
And while the Internet has visited all manner of ills on mankind one of the positives
it has produced is to drive a knife through the “lame stream media” the left so long relied upon.
