Romantic Comedy Premise

Quote of the Day

Romcom premise: therapist of a woman with chronic TDS that’s ruining her life tells her that part of her therapy is exposure: she needs to spend time around a Trump supporter until her anxiety wears off. She must date a Trump supporter to be cured of her disease.

Hilarity ensues.

Title: “Making Amelia Great Again”

My impression is that many of those opposed to the Trump presidency go to great lengths to not be soiled by contact with any information that might cause them to question their hatred. Hence, while I could find humor in watching a movie or show like that, it would probably be a marriage breaker in some relationships to even suggest viewing something like that.

  1. It’s a great idea. But as you’ve pointed out, not enough people would want to see it… and it would also be hard to find a studio willing to film it.

Frankly, it would be all too easy for a studio to take it on, and then weasel out, making the MAGA love interest a caricature… and then it’s the MAGA character who is made to see the light. (Call it “How I learned to love Amelia and hate Trump”.)

In fact, I’m a little surprised that we don’t have movies like that already. (Or do we?)

  2. Sorry, I get to hear all their childish excuses on what little news I watch now.
Besides, they already want to disarm and murder you as it is. Not even hollywood could produce a plausible fantasy about enlightening one.
What’s needed is an SNL style show that mocks bureaucrats and politicians mercilessly.
That’s why you don’t see it, even though it is the most target rich environment for comedians the world has ever produced.
I would bet one could take over late night TV in a snap.
