Quote of the Day
Name three things that the government does cheaper and better than private individuals and organizations. It would be no trick at all to name dozens of things that the government does worse and at higher costs.

I strongly suspect this is not an actual quote of Sowell. It certainly fits the essence of Sowell’s work, but you will be hard pressed to find something that comes close to a direct quote.
Does it matter? You’ve drank so much FOX News Kool aid that anything anyone says will be met with derision and contempt. You cry fake news if someone presents any facts, and then present your own “alternate facts” as reason why.
The owner of this blog regularly rails against liberals, democrats and progressives alike, but he is blinded in his hatred for the “other side” that he can’t see the blatant hypocrisy of his own party. All hail Republican Jesus says the dear leader.

In early 2017, Endicia compared U.S. Postal Service prices to United Parcel Service (UPS) and Fed-Ex prices—and the U.S. Postal Service offered, by far, the best bargains

One of the most insanely bad ideas proposed by Republicans and Libertarians is the privatization of fire departments. In Arizona, one such department is the Rural Metro Fire Department, which sent John and Kacia Purcell a bill for almost $20,000 after their mobile home burned to the ground on August 12, 2013. In most parts of the U.S., fire departments are publicly owned and supported by tax dollars. But the Purcells found out the hard way what can happen when a fire department is privately owned and one hasn’t subscribed to its service.

According to Action for Rail, an average U.K. worker was spending 17% of their wages for a monthly £391 season ticket from London to Brighton—whereas in Continental Europe, people making similar trips were spending 9% of their salaries in Germany, 12% of their salaries in France, or 6% of their salaries in Spain or Italy.
You are on a real roll with the ignorance and prejudice today. Did you practice to become that good? Or is it natural talent?
The last time I watched anything on FOX new was probably about ten years ago when my brother wanted me to watch a five-or-ten-minute clip of some opinion piece with him. Before that it was probably another ten or twenty years that I watched something of theirs.
I do not, nor have I ever, identified as a Republican. I identify as libertarian.
I have been an atheist for at least 40 years. Before that, I identified as a Christain Scientist. Not exactly your praising Jesus and shouting halaluyahuah type.
1) a) Price is not the only criteria judge the quality of a product. b) The U.S. Post Office is not a government entity. c) The USPO has a monopoly on letters and other non-package items.
2) This is the direct analog of someone expecting an insurance company to pay for a car repair or replacement for someone that did not purchase a policy. What is the total cost paid for construction, operating, and maintenance of the competing system?
3) You do not tell us how much the actual construction, operating, and maintenance costs of the two rail lines are. A country could claim their trains are completely free but leave out the part where the taxpayers pay five times the amount a private company pays for construction, operations, and maintenance.
Please do not try to have a battle of wits with me. I am well armed do not care to fight an unarmed person.
