Emotion Driven Theatrics

Quote of the Day

Giffords’ pivot to actual theater matches their overall approach of using theatrics to push gun control laws that do little to hold criminals accountable for their crimes and instead only penalize law-abiding Americans seeking to exercise their rights to keep and bear arms and the lawful and highly-regulated industry that provides for the exercise of that Constitutional right.

It all makes more sense now.

The Giffords gun control group’s call from theater pitches is just that – theatrics. It won’t lead to safer neighborhoods. It won’t lead to more violent criminals being locked up for committing acts of violence. It won’t protect families, homes or businesses from those choosing to ignore existing laws and instead harm innocent lives.

The theme is similar to Everytown for Gun Safety’s recently launched high dollar ad campaign, which mocks the hard-working and law-abiding Americans who comprise the firearm industry. Everytown, of course personally funded by billionaire gun control stalwart Michael Bloomberg, spared no expense to create a glitzy caricature of the firearm industry, repeating tired and inaccurate tropes about who is buying firearms today and who safeguards the Second Amendment right to do so.

Needless to say, these ad campaigns and the theatre pitches haven’t yet and won’t put any meaningful dent in the occurrence of violent firearm crime or the criminals who commit heinous crimes.

The anti-gun side has emotion driven theatrics. We have data, philosophy, and SCOTUS.

  1. “The anti-gun side has emotion driven theatrics. We have data, philosophy, and SCOTUS.” But most people don’t understand data, philosophy, or SCOTUS, let alone care about it. That’s why we have to fight so hard for every little gain. Meanwhile, the left throws some delusional theater kids out there and wins time after time because feels. Looks at what’s likely to pass for gun laws here in WA state soon, with a permit to purchase and ongoing retraining requirement (HB 1163).

    (cops exempt, of course).

  2. I’m pretty sure the battle lines have already been drawn on this one.
There are no real fence-setters that matter much.
Little Mikey B. should be encouraged to blow everything he owns on this nonsense.
Then we need to ask ourselves what Hollywood would be without guns and explosives?
And as for theatrics? The whole communist shit-show by the name of gun control has been nothing but theatrics and emotionalism from it very beginning. Close to a100 years now?
It never had a shred of law or anything one could consider as logical thought behind the whole communist plot.
But it’s all the communists have to work with.
We have to remember were Americans.
And we could give two dead flys less about what the Bloomberg bitches chorus and vaudeville act say or do.
More clowns in the clown show.

    • Over 150 years now. See “The racist roots of gun control”. It started with Dems using gun control to disarm former slaves, making them easy pray for their terrorist arm the KKK.

      • Your absolutely correct. And on a long enough timeline we can honestly say; “Disarmament? Thus always the way of tyrants.”

      • The first three Jim Crow laws were about firearms, property and voting. The order varied by state but these were always first. The other stuff about marriage, schools and drinking fountains came later after power was consolidated.

  3. Part of me wonders if we can get some freedom-minded theater students to submit scripts that subvert the request and bring a subtle pro-2A message.

Or parody the request just enough to demonstrate how disconnected from reality it is, but not enough to raise red flags on the anti-2A side.

Just saying, wouldn’t it be a hoot if they chose a script that told our side in addition to (or instead of) theirs?

    • If sufficiently subtle, a script that showed unconcern for crooks with guns (and approval of rich people with arsenals) would slide under their notice, while tripping normies’ alarm bells. If you ignore what “gun control” advocates say about their motives and aims, and deduce from their choices, then they’re really a Worker Control front. So they wouldn’t even notice such apparent hypocrisy, because it’s how they really feel; they really only care about controlling the class of people that receive paychecks, not guns per se. Even their claimed purpose is a lie.

  4. I think you’re spot on about the theatrics. It feels like these groups are more about symbolism than substance, and it’s the hardworking Americans in the gun industry who get caught in the crossfire.

  5. Gun control advocates should be seen for what they are; anti-civil rights. They inevitably bundle it with censorship, speech control, control of money (cashless society), travel control (electric cars, tracking technology on cars etc.). The concept of measuring “gun violence” is purposely deceptive, as it conflates defensive gun use, police shootings, suicides and gun accidents all under that heading. Of course the whole subject is moot (or should be) because it is one of our fundamental civil rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights. It’s pretty clear.

  6. The party of gun control is also the party of “defund the police” and “let all the criminals out of jail”.

You’ll notice that gun laws are disproportionately enforced upon those who are not career criminals.

  7. Leftist gun grabbers really don’t want to solve the problems they claim are caused by guns. Doing so would render their existence pointless…and possibly cost them funding.
