What Libertarians Mean By Pro-Gun

As a libertarian, I suspect there is some truth in this claim.

  1. I know a couple of people like the lower picture but they are conservatives, not libertarians. They don’t own a single bong.

    • I not only don’t own a bong, but I have never even tried any recreational drug other than small accounts of alcohol.

    • You don’t have to partake, or even approve of others’ choice to partake. I don’t. I get annoyed when i have to smell it. I’ve never tried it. I don’t really want to, either.

I have friends who do enjoy the occasional leafy substance. It doesn’t stop us from being friends.

However, I also don’t think it should be illegal to partake, at least in and of and by itself. (committing crimes while high/intoxicated/whatever is another matter).

Apparently most people find this position incomprehensible.

      • ” (committing crimes while high/intoxicated/whatever is another matter).”

The problem is that, in most cases, the crime is only charged as being intoxicated in public, as the primary focus. This is wrong. The focus should be causing harm to another while under the influence. (Harming themselves should not be a legal concern.) However, I want them to build a jail, and then DROP it on them if someone else got hurt due to their actions while intoxicated.

I think a subsequent charge should have a very severe penalty, perhaps a “wanted: dead” poster being published.
(I’m reminded of a crash a few blocks from home some decades ago that killed at least one person, by someone that was listed as a DUI for the 27th(?) time. That SOB should have been permanently removed LONG before that time).
