Doesn’t this mean there should be something to be found in the blood of the young that could possibly be synthesized and used as a treatment for the old?

While you are looking at synthesizing the elements, in some cultures the leadership is just as likely to say “why bother with the expense of making the elements when we have so many young criminals, political dissidents and other undesirables. Just take it from them. It will be their honor to sacrifice themselves to ensure the stability of the State’s leadership”
The “elites” have been vampiring the young one way or another for a long time. They don’t want to synthesize the components to get the effects as much as they want blood sacrifices to their “god.” It’s also a great way for puppet-masters to get kompromat on their puppets by pushing the false god.

Lock up your kids, cause more than likely it’s going to create a whole new class of vampires.
Set up blood clinics near colleges. In exchange for clean blood with no drug/alcohol content at time of draw, they’d get a payment according a set percentage of what the market will bear. Type O students could fund their entire education with a weekly draw. Give blood Friday afternoon, then go out and party… responsibly. Party too hardy and you might do something that will zero out your income.
What do you think happens to all those children being trafficked? Not ALL of them are being used as disposable sex toys.

I would guess that rather than being something in youthful blood, that it might be that youthful blood doesn’t have.
Perhaps the aged body isn’t efficient, and starts producing deleterious substances .
