Quote of the day–Max Blumenthal

If a new militia movement coalesces, its members will have no shortage of sophisticated assault weapons to choose from. At the gun show in Reno, I witnessed the sale of rocket-propelled-grenade launchers and bazooka guns; I watched a California-based dealer demonstrate how rapidly he could field strip his .308-caliber sniper rifle, then stash it in a deliberately innocuous-looking backpack and a briefcase that “looks just like a camera case.”

[This is part of the reason the anti-gun bigots get so much traction with the public. They are willing to lie or at least have no concern for the truth. He almost for certain did not witness the sale of RPGs or bazookas since they are very highly regulated and require an extensive and expensive process involving the ATF. Combine that with the confusing the definition of “assault weapons” with the definition as used by any of the “assault weapon” laws past or present and you see why the common person would be inclined to side with the bigots.–Joe]

  1. Turn it around. Make fun of their ignorance and stupidity, while demonstrating how many people have fun shooting. The group-think addicts are more sensitive to ostracism that we. That’s what Joe is doing right here. Beside all that, there are more people on our side than on theirs already. We have to be able to know when we’ve won, and how to take full advantage of it, rather than remain forever in a failure mentality.

I don’t know how long you’ve been watching this unfold, but fifteen years ago NRA leadership was afraid to be seen the company of AR-15s or other EBRs. Now their magazine covers are festooned with them. There has been a major change in this regard. We just have to keep it up.

In the media, people are making bank on gun-related programming. “Tales of the Gun” on History Channel and the gun-related shows on MythBusters are very popular. People are hungry for that sort of thing.

***Understand that when you’re disgusted by some ignoramous spouting nonsense, there are tons of other people just as disgusted.*** We are in the majority there, plus reason and the constitution are on our side. Learn it and love it. Let the douchebags make fools of themselves, let them paint themselves onto a legal corner. Then put them on public display making fools of themselves, and have fun doing it.

BTW: I doubt Blumenthal could define “field strip” if his life depended on it.

  2. Greybeard, what Lyle said. Plus, publically, politely call them liars and bigots to their face and demonstrate their lies and bigotry.

  3. Blumenthal wrote:”I witnessed the sale of rocket-propelled-grenade launchers and bazooka guns”.

Ah, the lovely half-truth. I’m sure he did see the sale of those items.

The question is; was ammo available also or were they just really large wall decoration?

That question needs to be asked of him loudly and in public.

  4. Challenge them to buy an RPG and bring it in. (Without doing it illegally, of course.)

    Maybe Blumenthal meant “take-down”?
