Unintentionally Funny

Quote of the Day

Gun control advocates have good reason to worry whenever the Supreme Court accepts a case for review. That goes double this term.

The court has two such cases on its docket — from Illinois and Connecticut — which have been consolidated for oral argument in December on “Whether the Second and Fourteenth Amendments guarantee the right to possess AR-15 platform and similar semiautomatic rifles.”

The outcome will determine whether the Constitution has become a homicide pact.

Opinion: Kavanaugh’s ‘new circumstances’ could pave a path to gun restrictions

<SNORT>

Wow. That is funny!

He did not mean to be funny, but to those of us in reality it maps deep into the falsehoods the anti-gun people have been trying to sell for decades. Falsehoods that have been repeatedly and convincingly proven. And yet he still believes.

  1. It’s possible he believes. But it’s just as likely he is spouting known to be false propaganda, as communists have done for centuries.

  2. More people are killed with “personal weapons” (fists, feat, etc) every year than all long guns (rifles and shotguns) combined.

If he believes, he at best incredibly ignorant about what he’s very publicly running his mouth about.

    • More people in the USA die of constipation than die by anything that could be described as an “assault weapon”.

Ol’ Stevie-poo is in dire risk of dying from being full of shit.

      • The only person I know of who actually died of constipation was Elvis. As for Stevie’s other risibly (that means laughably, Stevie) erroneous claim, even if the “Assault Weapons ban went the way of Executive Order 9066, and the Korematsu decision, he would not need to worry about Americans dying in a homicide pact. The current suicide pact supported and expanded by the Democrats would still be in force.

As for Assault Weapon, does Stevie still hold to the theory that an assault weapon only applies to a firearm that looks like an assault rifle? Has he yet looked into statutory law for the definition of an Assault Rifle? Select fire, either full auto or semi-auto, and in a caliber bigger than a pistol and smaller than a Mid Century full house battle rifle cartridge?

Based on the last seventy years of shootings, the numbers are vanishingly small. When WAS the North Hollywood bank robbery and shootout, anyway? That one involved legal weapons converted to assault rifles. If my memory serves me correctly, only the two perps died in the shootout, and I’m not sure if cops with assault rifles were able to save the citizens the cost of a trial in spite of the body armor both deceased were wearing.

  3. Truth is not a determining factor for judges. You have got the 3 defiantly anti-truth justices. Then you have the Chief Snake and his mini-me that basically pursuing institutional power for the judiciary. They are actually undermining the legitimacy of the institution but they believe it. 3+2=5. No Kavanaugh needed. It may not turn out this way but the risk is there. More likely, I think, is that Roberts manages to craft a narrow ruling. No telling what it will be as the Obamacare decision was completely unmoored from the facts. I am just hoping that Thomas and Alito are good at counting votes. Remember that the NRA was initially less than enthusiastic about Heller because of their vote counting analysis. Turned out they were wrong about Kennedy but he was kind of random.

  4. “Fortunately, there is a glimmer of hope. ”
He’s hoping that “new circumstances” will be taken into account, as happened with Kavanaugh’s illegal immigration accordance.

And even if we win at the Federal level, it’ll take a few years before the deep blue states like Washington are pounded into submission. I’m hopeful, but don’t see putting up any of my surplus rifles for sale any time soon. At least in Washington.

  5. If nothing else such cases will provide much humor in reviewing the mental gymnastics the commie leftists on the court will engage in to try and thwart such
    cases from succeeding….
