All falsehoods have a price. Sometimes the price to reward ratio is low. Deception to get your child to first open the present with the pet first is certainly acceptable. As is telling your terrorist kidnappers you are not a CIA agent even though you are.
Lies told by thousands or 10s of millions that affect society for years, decades, or centuries… No. Even lies with the best of intentions are better faced and dealt with.
Ft. Hood was not unique. There have been repeated attacks on military installations and personnel. None of the victims were armed themselves because of GFZs. It is completely bizarre that our military is a giant GFZ,
