The federal government has filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss its appeal in a case challenging the ban on possessing and carrying firearms in U. S. Post Offices, making the Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) win final.
In September, the Northern District of Texas ruled in favor of SAF and declared the carry ban on post office property unconstitutional, enjoining its enforcement against the plaintiffs, including SAF members. The District Court went on to clarify that the injunction had nationwide effect. With the voluntary dismissal of the appeal, SAF’s win in the case stands, meaning all current and future SAF members will remain covered by the injunction moving forward.

Remember, this only applies to SAF and FPC members. But it does apply nationwide now.
FPC and SAF get all of my tax-deductible donations. That is thousands of dollars each year.
So, someone else will have to also sue to get that to apply to everyone, then? How stupid.
Yeah. I know court procedures can sometimes result in stupid games.
The legislature could probably fix it with a line or two amended to some other bill.
But won’t. No Democrat will support and Republicans won’t push it. I am a SAF member but long ago organized my life to never set foot in post office.
Any wagers on how long i will take to remove the “no guns” signs on post office doors?
I’ll put $20 on “never.”
So the law is unconstitutional, but the injunction doesn’t apply to everyone?
The constitution only applies to SAF and FPC members now?
How does that work exactly?
Am I now legally required to carry my SAF membership card along with my CHP and State issued ID?
Do I have to join SAF and/or FPC to exercise my first amendment rights too?
Or 5th amendment rights?
This isn’t “court procedures” resulting in stupid games. This is an adjudicated unconstitutional law that can still be lawfully applied to some people but not others.
My cynical side has to wonder if SAF and FPC didn’t specifically work to achieve this result to essentially force people who want to exercise their constitutional rights to join their organizations.

The thought that might have been the goal greatly reduces my motivation to join those organizations. Where’s their statement saying “now we’re suing to get this injunction expanded to cover everyone”???
