And, ultimately, I do not think they will get away with it. I think SCOTUS will rule in favor of the 2nd Amendment being a first-class right. I think Hawaii will comply with the letter of the ruling. And I think Hawaii will keep trying find more ways to get around SCOTUS decisions until they start getting prosecuted and convicted.

    Why not? It ain’t like they haven’t been for 100 years or better.
    But the real tell is if they “remand” it back to the lower courts. Instead of just ordering the case and telling everyone in their system if they don’t “stare decisis”? They go to jail.
    Sorry, I ain’t holding my breath on anyone in DC growing a pair any time soon.

  3. Well of course they’re going to obey the letter and violate the spirit. Republicans are doing exactly the same thing today with virtually every other amendment in the Bill of Rights. 1st amendment? 4th amendment? 5th amendment? 14th amendment? The current administration and its supporters have made it clear the rule of law is dead, so dems are just following their lead.

    You don’t get to complain about libs violating your RKBA rights and then turn your back when when the republicans violate their 1st, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendment rights. Well, I mean, you can, but then you’re just a hypocrite and nobody should listen to you.

    And given today’s events, where a guy who was legally carrying concealed was *disarmed* and then murdered should be wakeup call: the Trump admin doesn’t care about your 2nd amendment rights either…they’re as scared of an armed populace as the dems are.

    • I was almost going to agree with you until you said, “dems are just following their lead.” These gun law shenanigans have been going on far longer than the current administration has been in power. And even before Trump’s first term. And would you like to discuss the Biden administration’s encouragement of people entering and staying in our country illegally? That goes far beyond violating the spirit of the law yet compiling with the letter of the law. Or how about the autopen usage scandal? Or maybe you could use “Russian collusion” affair as an example of the sterling behavior of the “dems.”

      • Fair enough. I retract the “dems following their lead” part. The rest, I think, holds up just fine.

        The new Republican mantra of “Comply or Die” gives me whiplash from their assertions of even 10 years ago. I don’t recall folks on the right saying it was ok to shoot Ammon Bundy if he didn’t comply. Or Randy Weaver, for that matter. Or…etc.

        • Comply or die is the rule of power. Always has been, always will be.
          What your complaining about is us not caring.
          As for that, one has to look at circumstances.
          Rather than just headline emotions.

          • You don’t get to say “the rule of power is the way it is, and we don’t care” and at the same time claim “rights” under the Constitution. The whole point of the Constitution is to keep the “rule of power” at bay, and instead have a civilized society based on the rule of law.

            Put another way, RKBA doesn’t exist in the world you claim we’re in.

            One doesn’t go confront the cops of today with a gun on you without wanting to get shot by them.
            and after Randy Weaver, Waco, Lavoy Finnicum, Danny Shaver, Jack Yantus, and a host of others the left actually cheered over.
            Someone getting shot by cops that are ACTUALLY doing what their suppose to?
