No Brakes Required

Quote of the Day

Chuck Schumer stepped on a rake with the shutdown and the hammer and sickle wing of the Democrats wants to use Mamdani narrowly beating Cuomo as justification for taking over. I am happy to let AOC take the wheel and drive off a cliff.

Comment to Becoming Woke

While there is the certain hazard the rest of the country suffers as the car goes over the cliff, I cannot plausibly imagine a less bad outcome from our current predicament. What can we do to make sure the drive train is in good working order and the car is fully fueled? I don’t really care whether or not the vehicle has working brakes. They always double down on their mistakes so I would not expect them to be used in any case.

  1. And now, much closer to home, Seattle has elected a communist mayor! Because the previous woke idiot didn’t do enough damage I suppose. Our republic appears to be doomed without a major change. Universal suffrage has been a disaster

  2. Just saw that. Big headline about how grocery chains should not be able to close a location just because the thieves are eating all their margins, and they don’t want their customers and employees constantly threatened with crime. How dare they!

    • That’s an easy fix.
Just empty the grocery store of all products. Leave an armed guard in an armored booth. Turn off the power except for a couple lights. And shut off the water. Then leave the doors open.
Store is not closed. Open 24/7/365. Totally open to one and all. Free stuff if you can find it.
Then have corporation write down the loss on it’s taxes. And quit pay their city taxes till they confiscate the building.
Or just have some junkies burn the place and collect the insurance. And don’t rebuild.
Playing dirty works both ways. It’s way past time we started.

      • Exactly. This isn’t “playing dirty”, this is taking what actions are allowed under the law to minimize losses and liabilities. Is there a law that says a store must have merchandise to sell?
If the building and safety department require power and utilities in order to retain a certificate of habitability, connect the minimal amperage so that anything that draws more than a single electric shaver pops the breakers. They are within a room inaccessible to the public? The public is not supposed to have access to such places in a commercial building.

How is it that Detroit has de-urbanized and very nearly de-suburbanized, returning to a wild state in the past 65 years? The law is complicated enough that nothing short of confiscating the property will end this willful neglect and abandonment.

Anarcho-tyranny is their game? They won’t know what to do when the objects of this anarcho-tyranny start to play their game .

I learned a lot about what can be gleaned from a very close reading of Civil Procedure from the past 25 years of watching the Democrat example, and as MTHead says, it is way past time we did the same.

      • Or treat everything inside like you do a high-risk pharmacy location. Wearhouse style inside. Customers shop online, show up, workers inside pull the items when they have paid, they are given their goods through a secure “airlock” style door. Cash customers can be handled similarly but different (order, pay at a hardened window, workers pull order while you wait, then pick up at the secure door).

        • That’s the long defunct Service Merchandise catalog showroom business model; it failed, hard, for obvious reasons (that it existed prior to widespread high speed internet access was the only thing that kept it going for so long).

But, if “failure is not an option” because local gummint won’t allow it, then bring the idea back for “heavily urban” grocery stores: customer picks what they want from a catalog, pays for it (via the pass-through gizmo behind bullet proof Lexan), then a minimum wage lackey will retrieve it “from the back room.”

Your internet ordering model isn’t different from what Walmart and others are offering with their Curbside Pickup and Nearby Delivery options, so if surburbanites do it, why not the inner city? The standard complaint of “not everyone has high speed internet access” falls flat when every 8-year-old has a smart phone.

        • And all that is in consideration that the junkie gang bangers won’t just high jack the trucks before they get to the stores?
Uncivil behavior only breeds more crime and more cunning criminals.
What we’re not facing are the facts that government is intentionally destroying those cities.
They know their policies only cause misery and death. That’s why they enforce them.
          F’em, let them starve.
They earned it. And a lot of the normies even voted for it.

        • Good thoughts. Workers need to get to and from work, though. In Heinlein’s novel ‘I Will Fear No Evil’, one business transported employees to and from in an armored bus. Something to think on, methinks.
          Stay Safe

          • Something like this is already happening in San Francisco with tech companies running dedicated shuttle busses. Tesla even showed a concept for an automated one

  3. The problem with letting AOC take the wheel and drive off a cliff is the rest of us will be dragged along for the ride….

  4. When you encounter a democrat who openly approves of these Socialist candidates, sincerely ask them: “Do you think these policies should only apply to the blue cities, or would you want them country wide, you know; more of a ‘National Socialism’?”

    Prepare accordingly indeed.
