It is What They Do

Quote of the Day

I’m not anti-gun at all. I’m just for some gun safe common sense. I’m challenged by large-capacity clips in urban centers, weapons of war sometimes outgunning the police. But otherwise, man, people have the right to bear arms. I got no ideological opposition to that at all.

Gavin Newsom
Governor of California
July 11, 2025

Actions speak louder than words. What about his attempt to change the constitution and neuter the Second Amendment:

The 28th Amendment will permanently enshrine four broadly supported gun safety principles into the U.S. Constitution:

  • Raising the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21;
  • Mandating universal background checks to prevent truly dangerous people from purchasing a gun that could be used in a crime;
  • Instituting a reasonable waiting period for all gun purchases; and
  • Barring civilian purchase of assault weapons that serve no other purpose than to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time – weapons of war our nation’s founders never foresaw.

Additionally, the 28th Amendment will affirm Congress, states, and local governments can enact additional common-sense gun safety regulations that save lives.

Emphasis added.

Or the multitude of oppressive gun laws he has signed into law?

He lies with ease and a smile. He has had lots of practice. It is what anti-gun people do.

  1. When someone says, “I support the Second Amendment, But . . .” Everything before the “But” is a lie.
    His assertion that he is only in support of “Reasonable” gun Control laws, I am reminded of a radio advert from about 55 years ago about how almost everyone who drinks calls himself a “Social Drinker.” The advert went on to say that some people never have a drink except on social occasions, and others never go through a day without quite a few “Social Drinks.”
    Governor Newsom would not recognize an unreasonable gun control law if it caused a rebellion like the one described in John Ross’s classic novel, “Unintended Consequences.” He would be convinced until his dying day that the rebellion was the work of radicals and outside agitators and should be stomped out with all four paws with all claws out.

  2. What part of “…shall not be infringed…” do they not understand? They are would be totalitarian oppressors who plan to destroy our Constitution. Kill them all!

  3. Military small arms, which include their rifles, are not designed “to kill massive amounts of people in a short time” (for that, the military calls in a crew-served machinegun, artillery, or an airstrike); in fact, the 5.56 NATO round which the AR-15 and its derivatives are chambered for is considered marginal for deer, and is illegal to hunt deer with in some states. Despite what the media say, the AR is not “high-powered”; it is a high-velocity .22. The WWII-period M1 Garand is chambered for the far more powerful .30-’06 round (suitable for elk and pretty much any game on this continent), but when it was in front line use, if the military needed to kill massive amounts of people in a short time, it called in a crew-served machinegun, artillery, or an airstrike.

    As for universal background checks, the Sandy Hook killer killed his mother to take her guns. 16 states, including NY, IL, and CA, and DC, containing about 42% of the U.S. population, already require background checks on all gun sales, including private sales. How’s that working out for CA, DC, IL, or NY?

    • I like to refer to the AR-15 as a “light weight moderate power rifle” for those exact reasons.

    • Keep in mind that you’re making good faith arguments with a person who appears to have no intention or even capability of acting in good faith.

      Also, crew-served machineguns, artillery and air strike capability are all covered by the Second Ammendment whether it’s been officially recognized yet or not).

  4. The line “if you drop your wallet in front of him, kick it into another room before bending over to pick it up” exists because malignant swine like NewScum exist.

  5. Life is short. And listening to that many lies is just a waste of what little I have left.
    If I believed anything Newsom said about guns/control? Then Shawn Ryan should have been arrested for giving a firearm to a felon.
    I would sooner arm Che Guvera. (Since he’s dead of course.)

  6. Newsome is a politician, right?

    What was that line in The Hunt For Red October?

    “I’m a politician, which means I’m a cheat and a liar…..”

    • A little revolution now and then is a healthy thing, don’t you think?”
      – Captain Marko Ramius of the Красный Октябрь (Red October).

      We’ve got the right man at the helm for that, and the go-alongs to get-alongs are apoplectic.
