Don’t be a Science Denier

Quote of the Day

Thousands of gun shows take place in the U.S. each year. Gun control advocates argue that because sales at gun shows are much less regulated than other sales, such shows make it easier for potential criminals to obtain a gun. Similarly, one might be concerned that gun shows would exacerbate suicide rates by providing individuals considering suicide with a more lethal means of ending their lives. On the other hand, proponents argue that gun shows are innocuous since potential criminals can acquire guns quite easily through other black market sales or theft. In this paper, we use data from Gun and Knife Show Calendar combined with vital statistics data to examine the effect of gun shows. We find no evidence that gun shows lead to substantial increases in either gun homicides or suicides. In addition, tighter regulation of gun shows does not appear to reduce the number of firearms-related deaths.

  1. And once again, a right is to be controlled by government on the behavior of a few criminals? And those that abuse that rights grant of power?
OK, that should be more than sufficient evidence to cancel all government powers immediately.
Name one that has not been abused by politicians to commit theft, murder, and outright enslavement? Haven’t used their position to lie, cheat, steal, and twist the truth?
It seems to me, it’s all a marco-scam devised by lawyers.
They write the laws, defy the laws, break the laws, use the law to drag you into their court. Make you hire one or more of their accomplices to answer up for your transgressions.
All governed over by their most distinguished co-conspirators of the district you haply find yourself in. (Ya, the one in the black robe.)
All the while ignoring true law. Ignoring all word comprehension. And acting like words don’t have any meaning unless they tell you they do. And then call it all justice????
Or maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist?

  2. Don’t fall into the “statistics” and “research” trap regarding guns or gun control. It’s a RIGHT. Not a privilege. If we allow such an argument the gun grabbers will manufacture whatever “proof” they need to justify disarming us. Don’t go there.

    • In terms of persuasive arguments with others, many are easier convinced by facts than the declaration of law. Choose an appropriate weapon for your particular adversary.
