This is an election for the record books. There has been what is being called another assassination attempt on former President Trump:
A man with an AK-style rifle pointed the firearm’s muzzle into Donald Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, as the former president was playing a round, prompting the U.S. Secret Service to open fire, according to three law enforcement officials.
The former president is safe and unharmed, and the FBI says it is investigating “what appears to be an attempted assassination” of the Republican presidential candidate.

Secret Service fires at gunman after apparent ‘attempted assassination’ on Trump (msn.com)
The FBI is investigating what it called an “attempted assassination” of former President Donald Trump after Secret Service agents fired at a man with an AK-47 on or near Trump’s Florida golf course on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Donald Trump‘s campaign said the former president is “safe.” Law enforcement sources told ABC News a suspect is in custody.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the gunman was 300 to 500 yards away from the former president when he was spotted. Secret Service agents fired and the suspect dropped the gun and fled, a senior law enforcement official told ABC News. It was not clear if the suspect was aiming his weapon at Trump.
The source said the suspect got into a vehicle and witnesses reported the license plate number which was tracked by authorities. The suspect was stopped and taken into custody.
Even at 300 yards a semi-auto AK has pretty low odds of connecting with a single fatal shot. But it sounds like the suspected assassin may have been waiting for Trump to get closer.
Secret Service agents prevent Trump shooting; suspect captured with help of witness (komonews.com)
A gunman was captured Sunday after apparently trying to shoot former President Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida.
Trump is OK, and no injuries were reported by authorities after Secret Service agents fired at the gunman they spotted in the bushes.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the incident took place about 1:30 while the former president was golfing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
They immediately sealed off the area, after Secret Service agents fired four to six rounds at the gunman.
The agents were a couple of holes ahead of where the former president was playing when they spotted a rifle barrel sticking out of the course shrubbery.
I could make a lot of speculative comments but I’m going to let the story develop more before saying what Trump supporters are probably already thinking.
sheriff comment I heard said the shooter was 3-400 yards away. Hitting DJT at 3-400 yards with a standard AK-47 platform would involve as much bad luck for the President as the good luck he had in Butler PA.
Agreed.
That is a great way to express it.
However, one story I read said the rifle had a scope on it. That would help some.
Democrats double down: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/09/democrat-house-leader-hakeem-jeffries-responds-second-trump/ “MAGA must be stopped!”
Looks like the shooter was a registered Dem: https://gab.com/RT/posts/113144202752843667
Another blurb I saw (can’t find the link, now) revealed him to be a Dem and pro-UKR activist.
As expected, the left is violent. And they will continue to be violent. Prepare accordingly

The first rule of assassination is to KILL THE ASSASIN…so he can’t talk.
Since that didn’t happen the odds are very high that this is just a ‘lone wolf’
nutjob. And since he didn’t succeed expect another attempt….one that will
at the least see the FBI, Secret Service etc. complicit…if not actually involved.
Big, VERY big, if true: https://x.com/HealthRanger/status/1835486014107730018
“A source tells me the leak of Trump’s whereabouts is coming from Homeland Security, not USSS. Homeland Security is leaking location details to FBI, and FBI is running the assassins. The entire top leadership of the FBI is desperately trying to figure out how to eliminate Trump, while the loyal elements of US Secret Service are trying to stop it. Homeland Security and US State Dept are full-on treasonous criminal ops at this point. If Homeland can’t eliminate Trump soon, State Dept will make sure a war begins with Russia. If they fail, hundreds of top people within FBI and Homeland are going to either flee the country or be criminally prosecuted under a Trump presidency. This is what’s at stake.“
Oh brother. Sounds like the lame plot for a 3rd rate “Patriots” type novel.
True. But it’s also being reported that the golf outing was a last-minute decision. How did the shooter know?
Cellphone records show he had been waiting there for 12 hours. Maybe he was going to hang out there every day.

At 500 yards, it has a bullet drop of 122 inches and has lost 55% of its velocity. A scope won’t help this.
Unless the guy was indeed waiting for Trump to get closer, he is a complete idiot. Fortunately.
No news report I have seen says how the SS agents were armed and how far they they were from the assassin. Given that they are being criticized for missing, this seems important.
With the proper scope (and even the iron sights on an SKS), the drop is easy to compensate for. The velocity is still sufficient for a kill. The accuracy is the problem. With good ammo, it is about 5 MOA. At 500 yards and no wind, this is about a 25″ circle.
Still, the claim of him being an idiot or having zero training is valid. A shooter with even a tiny amount of sniper training would know not to stick the muzzle out of the bushes.
To me, this means he isn’t supported by anyone knowledgeable. It is more likely he is a “lone wolf.”
It occurs to me that the “AK47” could have actually been an AK74. That round is much flatter shooting though still a stretch at 500 yards. The media wouldn’t know the difference.
The media is even worse than I thought. The “AK” was actually an SKS. So my comments about the cartridge are valid. At least as far as I know, the SKS has never been made in other than 7.62×39. It failed the Soviet tests for a designated marksman rifle leading to the development of the SVD.
It’s clown-world. Maybe the SS guys had the same shooting skills as the last two assassins?
The ineptitude seems to be endemic, does it not?
It’s like a there’s a common-core firearms/fieldcraft instruction school for these morons.
I mean the guy could have bought a good, scoped deer rifle for as much as a decent condition SKS these days. And it probably had one of those $10.00-dollar, Chinese SKS scopes on it? 4 to 500 yards?
The whole thing as a joke.
The go-pro cost more than his shooting rig.
But seriously folks, this is how communists vote. Saves on ballot printing and all the leg work necessary to steal the election.
Any experienced leader has seen how loyal followers will do what they *believe* the leader wants. They want to impress their leader – prove their worth to the cause. A cunning leader can use this to their benefit, dropping hints as to what they desire without issuing any official orders. Examples are legion, but two famous ones are Henry II asking, “Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?” and Barack Obama joking that his detractors should be careful lest he send the IRS after them. In both cases, the leaders’ loyal followers did what they believed their leader desired, without being directly told to do it.
The Democrats and the media have been calling Trump an existential threat for years, and the rhetoric has only increased in recent months. Stir up your followers, let your desires be known, and let nature take its course. Hamstring the security team, and comment publicly about how unfortunate it is that they are understaffed and underfunded. Makes you appear sympathetic while providing valuable intel to your loyal followers.
May God protect Donald J. Trump and these United States of America.
