We Live in Interesting Times

Quote of the Day

I’m trying to imagine what happens if Trump has an insurmountable polling lead over Biden during the summer of 2024. Which seems likely.

Under that scenario, I see no possibility Democrats would let the election go forward. It would be canceled for some bogus reason.

After the Russian Collusion Hoax and the Hunter Laptop Hoax, it should be obvious to all of us there are no ethical boundaries in play.

If I accept his premise of an insurmountable lead then I come to a different conclusion. I would predict a different candidate receiving the nomination. Gavin Newsome comes to mind as an alternative. And if that still doesn’t solve “the problem” then election fraud would be the next tactic deployed.

Blocking the election would just be too “obvious” and over the top to make it through the courts, torches, and pitchforks.

An even more “interesting” scenario which might reach the level of not letting the election go forward would be if a month or so before the election a candidate where to die leaving only one major party and the Libertarian candidate on the ballot in all 50 states. Then what happens? The major party without a candidate would do desperate things. With the age of both current major party candidates rather advanced that could easily happen in 2024.

Another “interesting” scenario, made more likely by the current high emotions on both sides of the political fence, are that the candidate for one party or another is assassinated. Then, before the election, the other major candidate is assassinated.

We live in interesting times.

  1. The election will not be cancelled. The United States did not postpone the 1864 Presidential election, even at the height of the Civil War.

Moreover, I don’t think Scott Adams believes it will. He’s a clever guy.

I think Adams is trying to move the Overton Window. He wants liberals, who already hate him, to respond to him in outrage, saying that no, they would NEVER cancel an election! That’s what those Evil Other Guys might do, but not us!

And then Adams would have it on record… and he will say: “mission accomplished”.

  2. Even the Soviet Union had elections. They just didn’t mean anything. That is our future regardless of whether your scenario occurs.

“It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything,” Joseph Stalin.

The last two sentences of this are often quoted but the first sentence deserves more attention.

  3. The Constitution – quaint document, that – specifies that states have the responsibility to run the elections, which does not mean the feds cannot / will not interfere.

Mr. Schwartz is correct, the elections will be held, any assumption, or maintaining, of power without an election would spark…well, “a response,” random “declared emergency” be damned.

It will be interesting to see the balancing act performed by Those In Authority: they have to hold an election to maintain credibility for their assumption of power, but it has to be close enough that it is believable. Those whose information comes only from the nightly 6 PM Propaganda Broadcast won’t notice at all, but things in 2024 will be quite different from 2020 – a whole lot more people will be paying attention, and close attention – to the results and how they are achieved.

    Interesting times, indeed.

    • The Constitution certainly says that the States run the elections (give or take some details). But that doesn’t mean the Federal government obeys that Constitutional provision any better than it obeys any of the other ones. Consider for example the 2020 election, when various judges and other random agents made up new rules for how to run the election, over the objection of the state legislatures who under the Constitution have the sole power to make those rules. And what did the courts do? Uphold the Constitution? Not a chance.

“In nothing did the founders of this country so demonstrate their essential naivete than in attempting to constrain government from all its favorite abuses, and entrusting the enforcement of those protections to judges; that is to say, men who had been lawyers; that is to say, men professionally trained in finding plausible excuses for dishonest and dishonorable acts.” — H. L. Mencken

  4. If we have anything resembling a country at that point in time.
And I’m not sure, do warlords actually run for office? Or do they kind of like Obama and just call themselves the “self-appointed president for life”?
Then do whatever they can and want to stay there.
Crank up the secret police, arm and uniform all the goon squads, a pay off all their friends?
Or hey, maybe they will do what they’ve been doing for the last 150 years?
Buy both sides and act like it was a hard won election?
What we can being certain of is that the people running clown-world ain’t nowhere near clowning around in our lives.
But with the southern border invasion it’s going to be very difficult to run cover on the street crime.
And Joe B. Normie is feeling the pinch. And even his wife is starting to understand. We ain’t voting our way out of anything.
“Open war is upon you, whither you would have it or not.”
And at this point elections are shell games at best.

  5. The elections will not be cancelled. And the polls are irrelevant. With the now fully implemented ‘mail in voting’ system in place who votes for whom is totally irrelevant. They proved that in 2020 and again in 2022. The people who win will
be the people chosen to win by the leftists who now control the electoral process completely. TINVOWOOT.

  6. “There are no ethical boundaries in play.”
I just want everyone, but especially the Leftists, to remember “If you kick the lid off of Hell, you don’t know what you’ll get.” This is especially true if anyone starts thinking a “wet” job would solve anything and make for more peaceful conditions.

    • That’s good advice.

A lot on the Left — and some on the Right — seem to think if they “kick the lid off of Hell”, that they’ll be able to control what kind of Hell it is. The Left thinks it will be the Right’s version of Hell, which is fine for the Left. The Right thinks it will be the Left’s version of Hell, and fine for the Right.

What neither side realizes is, if the lid gets kicked off, it’s the Devil that makes the rules, and he don’t play fair. Neither the Left nor the Right will get a say; it’ll be “Malevolent Third Party” all the way. It will be Hell for everyone.

So let’s maybe try and keep that lid on, eh?

      • True. And the criminals on the left are counting on the rational people on the right to know this reality and NOT open the gates of hell. That way they can continue running rampant over everyone and everything. The sad ugly reality is we have reached the point where the ONLY way to stop the criminal left is with violence…kicking the lid off of hell. The leftists…for the most part…aren’t stupid. They are evil. They count on the inherent goodness of the right. So far that strategy has paid off massively.
