Quote of the day—Peter Leyden

The entire Republican Party, and the entire conservative movement that has controlled it for the past four decades, is fully positioned for the final takedown that will cast them out for a long period of time in the political wilderness. They deserve it.

Let’s just say what needs to be said: The Republican Party over the past 40 years has maneuvered itself into a position where they are the bad guys on the wrong side of history.

The Great Lesson of California in America’s New Civil War
Why there’s no bipartisan way forward at this juncture in our history — one side must win
[“One side must win”? The 2022 election is shaping up to meet Leyden’s assertion. But I expect there will be a surprising, to him, twist in the plot he expected back in 2018 :

The solution for the people of California was to reconfigure the political landscape and shift a supermajority of citizens — and by extension their elected officials — under the Democratic Party’s big tent.

  1. This guy is huffing so much copium he needs an intervention.

And California? You mean the state that’s a complete economic basket case thanks to insane leftist policies, and it can’t shake them loose because the voting system is set up to permanently install Democrats? THAT California?

Wow, man. Peter Leyden, put your analyst on danger pay.

  2. I believe this is known as “whistling past the graveyard”.

Perhaps he believes that, with this sort of bravado – that Republicans are “the bad guys” on “the wrong side of history”, that they are headed for the political wilderness “and they deserve it” – he will rally his own side.

I don’t think he will. To the extent that he influences matters at all, his sort of rhetoric will drive independents toward the Republican side.

I could say that “he will deserve that”… but that would be petty.

For the record, I’ve been hearing that claim – “this event will ruin My Opponent’s party’s chances for decades to come ” – at least since the Reagan Administration… from BOTH sides. The common denominator in all of those predictions is that they’ve all been wrong.

Washington, Americans have proven, time and again, that they LIKE having Democrats and Republicans holding each other back. Americans only rarely let one party dominate the other… and it never lasts long.

The People have spoken. Perhaps Washington should listen.

  3. You know what?

I hope the Republicans DO go down in flames. Right next to the Democrats.

I’m not holding my breath, though.

  4. Careful. The Dimmocrats just found out that it is cheaper to buy a few of the Rinos than to fight a war. Fix (remove) the vulnerabilities before they have a chance to sell everyone out.

  5. Oh, I see. At first I thought Leyden was a conservative, but either way I’d have to ask, Why only 40 years? Does he have even so much as a cursory understanding of American history?

Many years ago, Rush Limbaugh noted that most people’s comprehension of history goes back little further than the time of their birth, before which is darkness and confusion. In other words, most of us have a sketchy (at best) version of history, comprising only the timespan of our own lives, or maybe some little bits of history from our parent’s’ generation. This QOTD is a good example of that, regardless of which political party, or “side”, or ideology it comes from.

  6. It has been my observation that people of the Left (communists, socialists, the media(multiple repeats)) have no sense of history. At All. It’s why they can repeatedly propose the same old fix for the same old problems, that have been continually shown to NOT WORK, and be surprised that it fails AGAIN. History doesn’t exist for them. Everything is new to them.

  7. Boy, is he going to be surprised when both fail. And the only government on offer is Klaus Schwab.
It’s all meant to become so repugnant and ignorant that you will except the lesser evil they impose upon you.
And as the new world clown put it. “Be happy with it.”
