Quote of the day—Brian Garrett

Whenever someone tells me to “check my privilege”, I like to respond with “root access confirmed”.

  1. “Accuse others of what you do.” The “check your privilege” crowd thus reveals itself. They want a coercion-based society, believing they’ll have privilege as a result.

I don’t know about the code stuff.

  2. I’d rather respond to “check your privilege” with “in your case, chmod -x”.

(For the non-Unix folk, that’s how you take something that runs as a program and make it inert.)

  3. I haven’t been asked to “check my privilege”, but I am prepared to reply, “Yep, got mine. Got a little extra, too, wanna buy some?”
