In war, truth is the first casualty. Hence, it is going to be extremely difficult to know the truth of the current events in Iran and Venezuela. For now, I’m going with the content of these two videos as a first approximation of background material.

Growing up I was always told Republicans were the party of law and order. Clearly that’s gone, and now they’re the party of “If we can take it, we will take it, because who’s gonna stop us?”
And sure, Maduro deserves to be out. But the way an administration that followed the law would do that is to rally our allies (oh wait, we screwed them already, don’t really have allies anymore), put it before Congress (which in this case would be a cakewalk since it’s full of Trump toadies), and only as a last resort drop bombs. Bypassing all that in a world where the Republicans control all three branches of government is how you make it very, very clear that you think the law is for somebody else.
It’ll be generations before Republicans can make an argument they respect the rule of law, and that assumes they reverse course starting now. Which they aren’t gonna do as long as Trump is alive, and probably even if he dies since they’ve clearly decided that honor and integrity are for losers.
(And just so MTHead feels better: yes, the dems have done all kinds of illegal shit too. But using that to justify Trump’s actions is the Ad Populum fallacy, aka the Bandwagon Fallacy, and is not a valid argument.)
Seems to me the current administration is doing a half-decent job actually starting to follow and enforce the US’s own laws, versus the previous democrat administrations that were … not.
Where in our laws does it say it’s ok for the administration to invade other countries, kidnap their leaders, and take their natural resources for ourselves? I seem to have missed that part of the US code.
How about the due process part? My understanding of the law is that we have a requirement for people accused of crimes to be put before a judge, and be fairly adjudicated before being punished, vs. our current system where a masked dude who was rejected by the Army pushes them into a van, then to a concentration camp, then onto a plane to be sent to CECOT on nothing more substantial than “he was speaking Spanish outside a Home Depot.”
Or did the law get updated to “the ends justify the means” without me noticing?

I’ve never tried to justify Trump. All i’ve ever said is that’s the world you commies have created.
Sux to live in, I know. You’all didn’t think it was coming back to bite you on the ass???
And it hasn’t nearly as hard as it should.

Right, where was the US code when Biden’s auto-pen and friends were invading this country?
You want to talk about kidnapping? Cartels and child sex trafficking, anyone?
After the climate change hoax you want to complain about stealing resources?
Due process???? Ya, that’s what J6er’s got. Especially Ashli Babbit.
Not that anyone doing those things is good. You just seem to miss calling it out when your friends are doing it.
Trump is being nice. Keep it up and watch the next guy.
Trumps a lite weight.
Or even worse for your side is when the patriot Americans get pissed off up to their nostrils with the commie crap.
That’s when the solmali daycare people are going to wish they had stayed in africa. And the corrupt assholes that fund them are going to curse the day they were born.

He’s got a history of being right on some things, and totally wrong about other things (that he sounds just as confident of). He pushes the Standard Narrative ™ hard, so he’s an establishment shill for some part of the Establishment. Entertaining, but take him with a BIG grain of salt, as most things military are NOT his strong suit from what I’ve seen in the past
Yes, there are a lot of moving parts and lying pols, it’ll take a while to sort out with any certainty. Total agreement there.
Re: Iran, one of the things most people are totally unaware of is a growing Christian revival movement, complete with visions, claims of miracles, etc., millions of them, and it’s freaking out the gov’t/imams. It’s also tied to recent (last several years) religious changes in Saudi Arabia.
Re: Venezuela, it’s been a hub for out-of-control CIA stuff for a while; not just drugs, but everything else, too. I expect we’ll be hearing about their election interference via Smartmatic and other things, drugs, arms trafficking, human trafficking, funding mass immigration into Western countries, etc. Not all at once, of course. It’ll be interesting to see what sorts of changes we see spreading elsewhere.
Truth? Mainstream Dems and Repubs are two corrupt wings of the same corrupt and compromised bird alternately playing good cop / bad cop, and most them from both parties should hang for treason, along with a lot of bureaucrats and lifetime functionaries and officials.
Let’s see how it plays out, and who screams the loudest.

A good illustration of all those principles conservatives used to claim were important:

And in case you think this’ll go better than Iraq or Afghanistan, Peter Zeihan would like to have a word with you:

Agree with the overconfidence part, not so much on the Standard Narrative part. Here’s a guy who boils it down more concisely:
