Way back when Evolve got started they enlisted the help of one sterling individual named Michael Weisser. They gave him the moniker of Mikethegunguy and used him to get their message across to the pro gun vote.
Weisser was an unusual pro gun guy in that he owned a gun shop and literally never met an insane gun proposal he wouldn’t back.
On his blog he decided to expose Colion Noir( NRA spokesman at the time) and literally called Noir the ‘NRA’s house Black Man’. Pretty tame actually, but I contacted Evolve Together(they dropped ‘Together’ shortly after) and asked them if it was okay for their member and spokesman to be using such racially insensitive language. They told me that I should take it up with him. I said I would and I would also continue to share his little message across whatever social platforms I could.
Eventually Evolve and Weisser parted ways and he will deny he was ever a member of that organization.
As a curious side note: it seemed this Weisser owned the Ware Gunshop in Massachusetts, but it didn’t actually sell guns. A little digging and it seems he lost his ability to sell guns sometime in 2013 or 2014 and it remained open selling accessories and offering firearms training until a few years ago.
