Last weekend Barb and I went over to the peninsula to have dinner with some friends. This involved a ferry crossing and I took a picture of this girl pretending to fly like one of the seagulls floating in the air ahead of the ferry:

Um, I rode the Puget Sound ferry a few decades ago … may even h ave been the same one! I watched over the bow of the ship, and I saw octopi (???) sprawled on the ocean floor. It was one of the seminal moments of my life, because I’ve always been an “inland” boy, and rarely saw the ocean floor so close.

If your aircraft carrier is cruising sufficiently fast and you have a good headwind, you can upzip your jacket and hold it open to make “wings”. Then you lean out over the bow at an alarming angle and let the wind support you. Watched it. Never tried it.
I’m thinking that she has seen the movie “Titanic”.
