Change in Attitude

Quote of the Day

It is cozy in a comfortable way.

I want to come back.

Barb and I spent our first night together in my underground bunker on Friday night. Barb stayed until Sunday evening when she caught a plane to come home. She had to be back earlier than me for work.

The QOTD was said sort of embarrassed, with her face partially hidden under a sheet. For years she has been very skeptical about my expensive and years long project. After actually spending a night in a comfortable bed, with a functional kitchen, and full-sized bathroom (as opposed to a camping trailer) she far more receptive to spending time there.

This is a huge change in attitude.

Having this for a view on our morning walk helped some too:

  1. Nice!
Always good when the wife approves also.
    Nice picture too.
I always loved early mornings, outside.

    • AHHHHHH!!!

      Not you too!

My oldest child deliberately calls it that because she knows it annoys me. I did not care for the books or the movies. There was not even a small part of the Hobbit environment that inspired any part of the appearance, design, or construction. Barb and I are both over six feet tall, and the interior is scaled appropriately. A Hobbit would find it difficult to function in this structure without a stepstool and/or ladder.

    • Ha! You beat me to it…I wanted to post- “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”

  2. Dabbled in home-built TIVO tuners in the 2000’s, before Media Center. Known as HTPCs we called this threshold the ‘WAF’–Wife Approval Factor. It’s the point where the project no longer is work and fulfills its purpose.

    Congrats!
