Via Thomas Sowell Quotes @ThomasSowell:

I thought I had posted this famous quote before, but I can’t find it at the moment so here you are, just in case.
The late, great, Eric Engstrom once told me his analogy of socialism, “Socialism is like a piece of candy that gives you cancer. Later you start feeling sick. The offered cure is always another piece of socialist candy.”
Only an intellectual, indeed.
Socialism is like a box of chocolates; infested with live tapeworm eggs!
Like something from the bottom of the Whizzo Chocolate Company’s range.
Yup. Spot on.
But socialism is just the latest pejorative. It’s elitism trying once again to establish their totalitarianism. Their “divine right of kings”.
And all in all it’s just satan repackaging the total destruction of humanity for the modern world.
Thomas Sowell and so many before and after him are just the prophets of the modern world.
“The voice of one’s crying in the wilderness.”
So many hear, so few listen. And even fewer heed the words.
the fact thar socialism exists and continues to exist is elegant proof that we are not an intelligent species.

One works hard and pays a pretty penny to obtain an education, and after all that sacrifice one wants to feel he’s been made privy to wisdom and truth unavailable to the common people.
But the uneducated common people, being empirical rather than theoretical, generally see reality clearly and acknowledge it. They live it.
So the educated classes MUST deny reality in order to get their money’s worth from their education, else what is an education for?
