  1. Stopped clock and all that, but Bill is right on this one.

A .30-06 was reported recovered near the scene.

However, the bullet used has not been recovered, so for all we know Kirk’s shooting and the Mauser are unrelated.

  2. To me, the question that will never be answered is the most important one.
    Who was running security?
At both Butler, PA. And Utah, the inexperienced nobody just happens to show up at the exact hole in security that was also the best and easiest place to take a shot from.
Any security standing where Charlie was sitting before the show started would have said. OK, I need people, cameras, drones, or something watching these areas. Before, and during the show.
Nope. Just a big coincidence that even the counter snipers in Butler missed.
That, and the fact that unless he was using a very lite weight varmint round?
He would have splattered Charlie all over that background paper.
    He certainly wasn’t shooting 150gr. FMJ’s.
Oh well. We’ll see. Or not.

  3. Where was conciliatory Bill Maher back before the left went really crazy?
Because *I* remember him giving free reign to any left wing person on his show and shouting down any right wing person stupid enough to agree to be there.

Not rarely, but every single episode.

  4. The attempt on Trump was inexcusable.
But in defense of Kirk’s security, who’d have ever expected anything like that to happen?

    • We all saw the exit-wound come out the front of his throat, right? Was definitely NOT an entry wound.
How did the shooter get behind him if the tent was backed up to a building?
Still believe the FBI story, eh? One simple question about the laws of physics tells you the narrative is impossible, but you do you. Tell me breathlessly how wonderful Patel and Bondi are….

  5. Maher is talking out of both sides of his mouth…again. Trying to remain OK with his leftist buds while not offending the right. As for the security…Charlie Kirk had the security he could afford to pay for. That will NEVER match the security politicians get because they can tap into essentially unlimited tax dollars to pay for it. And Charlie Kirk’s security had ZERO legal authority to do a lot of things that should have been done to actually secure the venue.

    • As far as I can recollect, there’s no ‘legal authority’ required to use commercially available equipment, e.g. camera UAVs, for surveillance when such security arrangements could be included in performance contracts between speakers and venues.

Also, UVU has its own “police force fully accredited by the State of Utah…charged with protecting your safety on our campus…” that would have all the authority needed; the basic question being; “Was the UVUPD being properly, efficiently and effectively utilized?”

What’s too bad is that TPUSA & Charlie Kirk apparently had a blind spot when it came to considering just how much of a threat his partisan political enemies viewed him to be.

When I was a new PFC in the Army, my first squad leader advised us that ‘experience is the best teacher, and the best experience is someone else’s, as it’s usually less painful and less expensive. I would hope that TPUSA’s ‘experience’ will not be lost on others.

        • Yes, and IIRC, Caesar was noted to have used similar to it in his commentary about the Roman civil war:
          “…rerum omnium magister usus”
