Is it just me?

This is mostly to the other bloggers that went to Summer Camp with me last year but I thought it might be of more general interest as well.

When I went to the range last night I was wearing my Blackwater USA (recently rebranded to “U.S. Training Center”) cap and t-shirt. I’ve worn the hat there before but never the shirt. The staff was extraordinarily friendly to me. They had a big smile on their face and didn’t ask to see my ID card and had my stack of free targets in their hand and extended to me before I even reached the counter.

Has anyone else noticed people treating you differently when you are wearing Blackwater branded clothes?

  1. Yeah, what’s up with threepers thinking that Blackwater/Xe is the devil or something? I mean, I know that Mike Vanderboegh is nuts, but there’s never been a logical explanation of the whole “Blackwater is t3h eeeebil”. I mean, it used to be the far left that thought George Bush was going to hire Blackwater to oppress their civil rights, and now the far right thinks that Barack Obama is going to hire Blackwater to take their guns? I just don’t get it.

  2. Because Erik Prince is a criminal, Blackwater pimps itself out as a way to circumvent posse comitatus, and hires foreign mercenaries. At least, that’s my reasons. Can’t speak for everyone.

  3. and now the far right thinks that Barack Obama is going to hire Blackwater to take their guns?

And if they didn’t want us to think that, maybe they should have been taking guns away from people in Katrina.

  4. Except for the part where they didn’t.

The confiscation of firearms during Katrina was done by LE – the whole “Blackwater took people’s guns” things is an unsubstantiated rumor with no empirical evidence to back it up. You want to hate someone for taking people’s guns during Katrina, hate on the California Highway Patrol.

I apologize if I somehow gave you the mistaken impression that I like the CHP.
