But that's the point-- "Progressives" don't want it to be harmless. All that talk about "helping" people or "looking out for the little guy" et al is just smoke.

Their motivations are completely different from yours. You can scream it in their faces, and they'll hear you. They'll even understand you, but they'll wonder why you're so excited about saving and supporting the dirty rotten oppressors-- the destroyers of the world, the greedy individualists, the corporate monsters and so on, and they'll conclude that you're "one of them".

They're not looking for "harmless" at all.
