To the extent that we have allowed special privileges to be carved out for “special” people, that is very true. Capitalism does have issues when it is bastardized for individual gain at the expense of others. At that point, it ceases to be Capitalism other than in name only as those in special positions will try to continue to use the name for their personal leverage and gain. It has been written, “We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.” True Capitalism has at its heart the liberty of the individual. When individuals are free to chose, constrained only by the injunction to not harm others, tremendous things happen. It is no accident that the United States became the powerhouse of the world. It is also no surprise that those who crave power and control are doing all they can to usurp the rights of individuals. Interestingly enough, it is not solely the “elites” where this blame lies. There are many people between the common man and the “elites” that are more than happy to carve out their own niche of power and control. Think no further than city, county and state bureaucrats, legislators and judges. Many times, in jest, I have said that everything would be great if people would just do it my way. Unfortunately for some, there is no jest in their thoughts or actions and so we are where we are now. A little presumed authority and unrighteous dominion indeed!

Funny how communism was the first government tried here in America. As the pilgrims held all things in common.
And they almost starved to death. As soon as the governor said grow whatever you can and trade as you will. Everything turned around.
That’s why I say America is where communism comes to die. It didn’t last 3 years the first time.
I doubt the present 100 year putsch of communism will end much different. Just a lot more bloody. But end it will.
One has to marvel at how many times humanity can fail this history exam.
