Quote of the day—Tom Gresham @Guntalk

A well-educated public being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed” does NOT mean only the well-educated can have books.

  1. Here’s something else to consider; the meaning of ‘state’ as a condition rather than a polity.

Do a simple search for the definition of the word ‘state’. The top five returns from general dictionaries*, reveals ALL of them have ‘condition/state of being’ as the top definition, with the political definition no higher than the third entry at best.

So…Change “the security of a free state” to “secure a State of Freedom” and see how *that* reads.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to secure a State of Freedom, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.[

    *per duck duck go:
    Merriam Webster
    Free Dictionary
    Dictionary.com
    Cambridge English Dictionary
    Britannica Dictionary.

  2. It’s a good exercise in logic, Tom. (unfortunately, logic never works on communists.) But the government already beat you to it on that one, too. You got to have a library registration card to check out books.
But then again, If I could go check-out government guns for a week or two at a time? I would get their card!
But the truth be known. The constitution ain’t that complicated. And has never the problem. Always, the problem lies with how compromised are those empower to minister under it?
Witness the last thing to be appointed to SCOTUS.
Either so stupid she actually didn’t know the difference between a man and a woman?
Or so compromised politically she wouldn’t answer an honest question?
Either one should have disqualified her. But, “Here come the judge, here come the judge!” If Flip Wilson only knew! He’s rolling in his grave right now.
Love the show, Tom! Thanks! (At the gun shop we use to sponsored Gun Talk on the local radio station. We got more business from that than anything else we did. I mean like 5-10 people a week thanking us. It was huge.)

  3. ”… does NOT mean only the well-educated can have books.”

Right, and that’s a problem, and so the obvious implication for those who desire total power is that they must circumvent and ultimately erase our founding principles, documents, laws and culture, no matter what it takes to do so.

Therefore, to vigorously assert the true meaning and principles of our constitutional system is, to the enemy, a blatant reminder of the obvious problem that they’ve been trying so hard to solve all along. It’s a bit like telling a soldier on D-Day, while he’s in the Higgins Boat, that there are Germans ahead.

    So what’s your point?

  4. The leftists seeking to disarm us know EXACTLY what the Second Amendment says and means. They simply DO NOT CARE. As for their brain dead sycophants that give them a political power base…..those morons are beyond reason or logic.
