Quote of the day—John W. Whitehead & Nisha Whitehead

Yet be warned: once you get snagged by a surveillance camera, flagged by an AI predictive screening program, and placed on a government watch list—whether it’s a watch list for child neglect, a mental health watch list, a dissident watch list, a terrorist watch list, or a red flag gun watch list—there’s no clear-cut way to get off, whether or not you should actually be on there.

You will be tracked wherever you go, flagged as a potential threat and dealt with accordingly.

If you’re not scared yet, you should be.

  1. It’s protocol, and no one will take responsibility to acknowledge that you are on a list, let alone remove you from all the lists assuming that they can access all the shared data.

Why is this news or a surprise? We’re building our own dystopian world one small step at a time. And do you think that a new bureaucracy will behave any differently?

If data is collected, then it can be accessed and misused! And that includes your personal cell phone. It collects far more data than a private detective following you everywhere 7 by 24 365 days a year.

Welcome to our own brave new world!

  2. Not sure how many lists I’m on. But even AI must be bored to tears at this point.
Even at the high point in life. Most people are just work, home, eat, sleep. Throw in a few frails.
Their problem is there’s nothing to find. (Everyone causing real world problems pretty much works for them.)
Like Soviet’s hunting for dissidents. Most of the crap is making mountains out of mole hills to keep some bureau alive.
Imagine the twist one would have to program into AI in order to hunt down white supremist by action. (The 3 Nazi’s left in America just got brought over here from Ukraine.)
And how many of your own people would get caught up on the list by AI? (Their the ones acting like Nazis.) Find all people plotting to kidnap officials? Would have caught a bunch of FBI last year, Right?
With their list and 5 bucks they can get a cup of coffee somewhere. Otherwise they have to actually do something besides look, listen, and bullshit themselves.
At which point it’s a two way street they can’t control anymore.
God, guts, and guns are all we ever had anyway. And as Zerohedge is fond of saying: “On a long enough timeline, everyone’s survivability drops to zero.”
That goes for government also. And their bullshit computer programs.

  3. I’m reminded of a practice, 30-ish years ago or more, among some libertarian-minded Internet users to attach “FBI bait” to the end of every email they’d send. In other words, an assortment of keywords thought to be the sort of thing that these robots look for.

    • But the sophistication today is far greater. “They” can learn more about you than you know about yourself, and create a predictive psychological profile, just by looking at where you’re looking and what you’re pointing to on line, who you’re talking with, where you go, and where your money comes from and where it goes.

      • Yep! What they know about you is more than a private detective can learn about you and it’s much cheaper than hiring a private detective.

We’ve made a Faustian bargain with the devil (tech). And it all for your own good and safety! It makes East Germany look like pre-school for your dog and cat.

    • A model of catholic teaching? That’s pretty bizarre, talking about a country that recently forced the Pope to revert back to the medieval practice where the king got to pick the bishops. Then again, it doesn’t look like the current Pope put up much of a fight, which given his communist training isn’t surprising. One would suspect JP2 would not have given in to the ChiComs.

  4. I completely agree with this article, except for one thing. There’s a big difference between being afraid and angry….
