Quote of the day—Ric Grenell

The Democrats have moved from there’s not any fraud, to there’s not widespread [fraud], and now their new mantra is there is ‘not enough fraud to overturn’ the election.

Everybody knows this election was full of fraud.

  1. Very interesting, especially building off yesterday’s QOTD post.

Everyone does indeed know the election was full of fraud (everyone except, perhaps, the MSM). But every court at every level has determined that this will not be decided on the basis of evidence, testimony, sworn statements, or facts; instead, it will be decided on the basis of standing — that is, who has it, and more notably, who doesn’t.

And every level has found that nobody does, because apparently nobody has been “harmed” by the possibility of fraudulent elections:
    – Not the millions of voters whose votes were rendered irrelevant by fraudulent opposing votes, their only voice effectively silenced.
    – Not the thousands of voters whose pro-Trump votes were “switched” to Biden, their only voice completely misrepresented.
    – Not even the one person directly harmed: President Trump himself, whose re-election bid was lost, possibly due entirely to the fraud.

The evidence doesn’t matter because the courts have decided not to hear it. “Lack of standing” is cited as the reason, but it’s B.S. given how many people have been harmed, directly or indirectly, by having their right to vote rendered ineffective.

The defining question in the upcoming legislative and SCOTUS terms won’t be, “Does this bill or law comply with the Constitution?” It will be, “What does it take to prove to Chief Justice Roberts’ SCOTUS that someone has standing to challenge it?”

    • “(everyone except, perhaps, the MSM)”.

Please stop calling them ignorant. They know very well that there was fraud, but they have a job to do and they do it well! Give them some credit, Man!

Again; do you want to let them off with “not guilty by reason of unbelievable stupidity” or do you want them held accountable? If you think that the MSM, as a whole, consists of the stupid, the ignorant and the lame, then I’d say they have you bamboozled. It is far more of a charge against them to attribute intelligence, knowledge, planning and organization to what they do! Sure; they can and do use the stupid and the ignorant to further their cause, but it is a cause after all, and it is being furthered, and THAT takes brains, understanding of human nature, planning, organization, and skill!

      • The “perhaps” was offered tongue-in-cheek, though it seems I didn’t make that clear.

Journalistic duty and integrity demand they report the truth, but they only report cherry-picked facts and half-truths, chosen to make the Left look good or the Right look bad; everything else gets suppressed, selectively edited out, censored, and/or silenced.

They are “true believers”. They know they are not reporting the truth, but The Agenda [TM] and The Narrative [TM] are more important than little things like facts.

The MSM are just as much domestic enemies of the Republic as the Socialist Democrats.

  2. Being accustomed to a lifetime of half-hearted at best, and more often feigned, opposition, and to the let-downs, betrayals and compromise that are all SOP for the GOP, combined with “social justice” warrioring and PC within the justice system, I’m certainly not holding my breath.

I remember well the images of baggy-jowled, pasty-white republicans in the 1970s wearing the ever-so-slightly-bell-bottomed, polyester suit pants. To me it represents the very definition of the Party— Speaking of American principles to a base they wholly disrespect, while giving a wink to the burgeoning, significantly communist hippie culture in the hope of getting a pretty young runaway girl for the night after cocktails in the exclusive club with Democrats whom they admire for their lack of inhibitions and limiting standards. THAT will always be a real, quintessential Republican insider as far as I’m concerned, as I’ve not seen enough evidence to change my mind.

The deep state cannot cast out the deep state in any case, and so whichever way this goes, the underlying problems will persist at the fundamental level. AT best we’re looking at an effort at treating symptoms, leaving the disease itself un-diagnosed, much less treated. For decades already, it’s been just a matter of the speed and violence level at which, and some of the pretenses under which, Romish authoritarianism reaches its fullest stage of development. The patient is dying of cancer, fully metastasized, and we’re talking of giving him bromides.

Therefore I know that, although I’d kinda like to see the overturning of the fraud and the recovery of Trump’s win (which, by rights, would have to mean a large number of prosecutions and convictions for vote tampering and conspiracy, for how can one prove fraud to such an extent as to overturn its effects on the election without simultaneously proving criminal conspiracy?), I don’t actually have a dog in this fight, so to speak.

The political analogy of the Left and the Right pulling a tug-of-war rope is still solidly ingrained in most people’s minds, but it’s completely false.

The more accurate analogy (and my apologies to whoever made it up; I’m not able to provide attribution), is of the Left and the Right as the left and right feet of a massive, all-consuming beast, alternately walking us toward — and eventually over — a cliff.

Both sides push us toward total government control over every aspect of the citizens’ lives. They differ only in methods and how to get there; the end result is the same.

Take the Affordable Care Act as an example. It was rammed through in 2010 under a full-Democrat government, with all Republicans voting against it and then vowing — vowing! — to repeal it at the earliest opportunity. They wrote bills to repeal it that didn’t go anywhere because Democrats still controlled one chamber of Congress or the Oval Office. Seven years later, in 2017, Republicans controlled both chambers AND the Oval Office — the time had finally come! — but … no bills to repeal. Not one. Two full years they had full control over the federal government, and they completely failed to live up to their vows. They didn’t even try!

Because the GOP benefits from the ACA’s control over the population and 1/6 of the economy just as much as the Democrats do; they’re not really interested in getting rid of it.

Ditto for gun laws, tax laws, immigration reform, elective abortions, religious freedom, no-knock warrants, etc., etc. The list is endless.

The proof is in the pudding: Neither side repeals anything the other side does, ever. They only tweak how it gets implemented, to favor their own priorities.
