  1. You can find leftist tweeting things almost word for word his “left twitter” example. You won’t find anyone tweeting anything similar to his “right twitter” statement.

    • True. But the media will just make shit up still manage to find these sorts of storied implied in the seemingly innocuous but really dog-whistle “coded” speech those on the right use so often.

  2. Did someone give us a guarantee of good choice? Conceited billionaire, or senile communist? Are they not who we’ve become as a nation?
Like grandma said; government and society will always be as bad as you let them get. If one doesn’t like the choices. One’s compelled to remember our own sloth in the matter.
At least Trump has a hot wife. One can always sanctify their vote as a matter of taste!

  3. That quote just reflects how this country has changed in the last decade and 50% of the population wants those changes rolled back. That is the reason that Trump won in 2016.

I used ‘country’ rather than just the left, because those changes have penetrated most of our institutions including most corporations, education, media, advertising, government, armed services, and even some republicans.

Now we’ll see if half the country is still objecting, but it still won’t resolve or undo the changes that have occurred. That’s a conflict in waiting!

    • Those changes you mentioned happened over 100 years ago. Just sayin’.

And so, to understand what is happening today, we must understand what was going on in culture, religion and world politics well before the election of Woodrow Wilson as POTUS– By then (1913) a paradigm shift had already occurred.

Otherwise, one might well ask the question; Was the preponderance of American citizenry ever really the staunch libertarian culture that its founding documents and pre-revolution rhetoric might suggest? If so, then there was that paradigm shift. If not, then we’ve simply been on this trajectory toward authoritarianism all along, meaning there was no great shift having taken place around the turn of the 20th Century and Wilson’s rise to power was merely the result of a steady drift.

      • I agree that changes have been ongoing, but they have sailed on the end of the earth in the last decade.

  4. I see nothing in the returns to contradict my previous position that we are talking about two mutually hostile tribes stuck in the same geographic space. Whether war breaks out this fall is a matter of chance but it is coming eventually. Reconciliation isn’t happening no matter what the outcome.
I pose my usual alternative of the National Divorce.
