Quote of the day—Barack Obama

To the young people who led us this summer, telling us we need to be better – in so many ways, you are this country’s dreams fulfilled. Earlier generations had to be persuaded that everyone has equal worth. For you, it’s a given – a conviction. And what I want you to know is that for all its messiness and frustrations, your system of self-government can be harnessed to help you realize those convictions.

You can give our democracy new meaning. You can take it to a better place. You’re the missing ingredient – the ones who will decide whether or not America becomes the country that fully lives up to its creed.

[I find it very telling that Obama acknowledges the domestic terrorists has the approval of the Democratic Party and that the terrorists are fulfilling his dreams.

  1. Isn’t that about what Chairman Mao told the students (aka the Red Guard) in the summer of ’66?

  2. Note the direct references to America’s founding principles: That all Men are created equal, “self government”, and “the country that fully lives up to its creed”.

Isn’t that what we’ve been advocating for decades? Of course it is, but we also know that Obama hates America as founded and wants the opposite of the American founding principles (or “creed”).

It is important to know that the enemy, the forces of evil in the world, are not ignorant of our principles. They know them inside and out. It is why they hate them. Oftentimes they know these thing better than we know them, and they’ll use our own words, slogans and rhetoric, along with their knowledge of what motivates us, to fool and manipulate us.

For every good, fundamental principle, for every basic truth, there is an artfully-crafted counterfeit ready to welcome you in with open arms. And we will be fooled! Don’t ever think you’re immune.

  3. It’s a strange comment from a president of the United States of America that has sworn that he “will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

And it’s not clear if his usage of ‘creed’ is based on the American creed: “I believe in the United States of America, as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I, therefore, believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.”

Note that he did not use the words constitution, bill of rights, equal opportunity, be the best that you can, or freedom.

And his word other choices are also telling: ‘we need to be better’ than ‘equal worth’. So what is ‘equal worth’ and what is better than ‘equal worth’?

Would that be ‘equal outcome’ or marxism implemented using authoritative means?

It sounds like he has violated his oath of office.

  4. It’s funny. Without context, those lines sound perfectly reasonable. With context, they mean something very different.

    All Contexts Matter.

    • Obama’s great political strength was being able to say something that resonated with a wide audience by having entirely different meanings to the individual segments of the audience. Here, he demonstrates that power.
